The Oklahoma Ford Focus Midget Series has a full schedule planed this year to be run at Brill's Motor Speedway. We are always looking for new people and cars to join us. We are allowing all midgets to come and race in our group with a tire rule. If you would like any other information please feel free to contact Lee Little at [email protected]. I will send you rules and schedule plus any other information you might need.

That's cool, we need a midget series around here. We have the biggest midget race in the world in Tulsa yet no series. I hope all works out and someday I can afford one and come race with you guys.

Someone posted "how much does it pay?" I would like to respond, it pays what ever the track is willing to give us. We are but a small group just wanting to have some fun on a Saturday night. We don't make a living at this and frankly if all you thing about is money then you are in the wrong

sport. You will never make money racing. You race because you love the sport and the competition, not the money.

you know, if someone asks what the pay scale is and then you start lecturing on how its all about fun and not answer a legitmate question, i doubt you're going to get many participants. By the way, the "person" asking the question happens to have midgets and is pretty popular around here!

Telling someone he's in the wrong sport isn't lecturing? All he asked was payscale. He wants to know $400 to win or $100 to win. At least you can have the common courtesy of saying we dont know yet instead of saying he's in the wrong sport, you ass.

Yeah, He probably wants to know if he can break even or not. It's a legitimate question. IMO, it deserves a legitimate answer. Not a smart ass answer. Everyone that has raced and is racing already knows you can't make money at it at this level.

I agree with Crazydeke 100%. I'm sure the pay isnt a big deal to Brewer but a straight answer would of been nice. He would have been the best advertisment they could get. Brewer knows EVERYONE in the midget world. I wish midgets would race around this area there are at least 10 in the OKC area and I bet more in Tulsa.

Lee is just trying to get midget racing going in this area. The purse is up to any promoter that he can convince to let them run. He doesn't pay the purse.

I wish Greg would get off his ass and answer his phone or CALL me!

I'm glad to see Mark runnin the midgets. At least he's taking them in. Wish the moron at 44 would have!!! Lee's been around racing most of his life and is a straight forward guy. He gave the answer to the question, Maybe if you would ask it differently instead of being the dick that you are you'd get a better answer.

Well, lets see here. How many different ways to you want it spelled out? What does it pay to win? Is there any prize money? Any start money? Any money for towing? Any money at all? Is that enough for a simple answer or do we have to get some kind of interpreter for you?

IS THERE ANY MONEY INVOLVED?

Easy way I have found to start up a new class is to do a 80 or 100 percent payback. Drivers pay an entry fee and the top x number are paid back either 80% or 100% of that entry fee collected. It is typically beyond and above the Pit Gate fee collected by the racetrack Some race organizers offer 150% up to 200% payback of entry fees if they have a larger participant pit gate count / spectator gate. .You can advertise a guaranteed % Payback of entry fees and not get upside down financially.

We run a Dash for Cash for these types of start up classes that is guaranteed set amount donated by sponsors and supporters and collected the week prior to the race. We also hold a 50/50 ticket raffle and put 50% of that money towards the DFC race.

Most the racers really seem to like the DFC races with a winner take all jackpot. You can draw numbers for the drivers qualified for the DFC to determine starting position to lower the odd of having the same winner each week

It breaks the weekly points drama and gives everyone a fair chance at some extra tow money.

I agree with AMP on the last post. Last year while racing at Dutton Speedway I had asked for $100.00 per car. With this money I payed the prize money and some tow money as well. We never had a guaranteed purse but had a lot of fun racing. Also I would like to put in a good word for Dutton Speedway, he not only allowed us to come and race, but payed us money and even at the end of the season he gave us trophy's as well for the end of season points. This surprised not only myself but the rest of the focus midget racers as well. We are truly grateful for this help in getting the focus midgets started again. Thank you very much to Clarence Dutton for this opportunity.

Well I certainly don't know very much, but this is a brief synopsis of how this deal usually works Lee! :

A established group or series tries to get a decent purse and works with promoters to get a show scheduled, then a guy comes in and promises a "Midget" show and wants pocket change or a certain amount of money per car. Next comes the show and you only get five cars to show up because you didn't post a purse or its ridiculously low. Then the common fan in the stands who came to see a "Midget" show only sees five cars and may not realize that these aren't even real midgets anyways. So the fans get screwed, the promoter isn't happy with only five cars, and the racers can't race in this part of the country for another ten years!

I would love more than anyone to have some local midget shows, but it just needs to be done right! By the way, props to Mr. Brill for even thinking about having a midget show!
