I have really not been paying attention but what is the top prize for the Chili Bowl now. I was thinking it is like $10,000. That can not be the case now is it. With record amounts of entries and things I would guess that number has to be closer to $20,000-$25,000 by now. I just saw the post where Brian Brown was looking for a ride and some guy offered one up for $4000 and a crash deposit........while I am not a CPA or anything like that I cannot make the economics of that work out no matter how hard I try.
PS. Once again the Beanbag trophy will be safe from the Bigshows trophy case as I have not figured out a way I can win it without being there. I could probally hole a couple from clear up here in South Dakota if you sissies would set up outside but with the weather being like it has there will probally be more snow down there than there is up here so I guess it is OK if you have to play inside. Have a good one.

I'm guessing it is still around 10k to win. The Chili Bowl occurs tremendous overhead expense compared to a regular race, plus it pays back every position for their qualifiers and in the alphabet soup on Saturday. (I wouldn't begrudge Lanny, Emmitt and family getting stinking rich off of 5 nights in January either...they've earned it) Think of it this way....do you think they should pay more to try and attract more entries? The field has been looking pretty weak lately, maybe they should do something about it.
As far as paying 4 grand for a ride...it ain't about the money is it? Drivers pay far more than they can win at almost every single race in search of taking home the biggest trophy.

Here is another situation at hand:
The city of Tulsa wants to annex the fairgrounds. If they succeed, they will get 3% of the revenue generated by events at the fairgrounds. That of course would mean we, the public, would have to look at higher prices from everything from food & beverages and so on.
And that amusement park you all see to the west of the building, the fair-board has told the owners to scram after they have been there since 1951. Winds of change are a blow-in at the ole fairgrounds!

There's nothing rational about the Chili Bowl. It's sure not the money. Maybe Toyota would spend a couple million to win, but not if a win was guaranteed. It ain't the fumes. It's not the politics or the slim chance of a profit. Lanny, Emmitt, and the people of Tulsa throw one hellofa party.. It's Cruser, Elliot, Droud, Bull, Sheridan, Flock, Yeley, Wise and 270others, balls to the wall and not a sensible number of wheels in contact with the racing surface. Kind of like one of the flying inflatables ... It won't last forever.
ENJOY....These are "the good old days." Bet that stories from the '07 bowl will be cleaned up, stretched a little, and told to your grandkids and beyond. It's friggin' January- the dark, cold dead of winter. Heyyyy!

The winner's share is $10k, plus another $10k bonus if you're running a MOPAR.
