I predict we'll see some of the best racing in FL in a long time starting this Friday at North Florida Speedway with the All Stars. Then again on Saturday night. Then of course the All Stars move on to Volusia for 3 nights starting the following Tuesday. The Outlaws will then kick off their season at Volusia on Friday. The weather forecast is looking good, the teams heading down look like the best All Star roster in years, and you don't want to miss it if you can get to Florida.
The complete All Star schedule should be released today or tomorrow...with 45+ stand alone dates.

I was going to north Florida but I'm not sure of the track's surface. I've heard from two people that it was nearly pavement. East Bay has not published it's entry list for the first time since they started their web site. I'm not sure how many racers that will show up this year. The place just ain't the same.

Doesn't look like pavement to me:

Plus Mike O'brien from Jersey has been there the past couple of years video taping the mods and said he really liked the place.

East Bay seems to be an enigma .... what happened to one of the greatest dirt tracks in FLA. for sprints? My buddy says their management team are L.M. fanatics and really don't like sprint cars. I have never been there but my old boss spends his winters in FLA. is none to complementary of the folks running the track as far as promoting sprinters go.

...and everybody said it was Guy Webb's fault when the All Stars severed ties with the track. let the truth be known. He has TRIED to bring the series back to East Bay and it has not worked out. This year he decided to go a different route and hopes to add Ocala Speedway to the mix as well in 2009.

Please say a little prayer and remember Ronald Laney who lost his life at East Bay 1/30/02 when he was there racing in the John Bankston Memorial, his good friend (and good friend of most of us) who lost his life the previous August at Eldora in 2001. 6 and 7 years without these two great guys and competitors. It just doesn't seem possible.

Both guys were not only good racers but fine people, liked by all. Nobody had any better time at the races than Johnny, except those he entertained around him.

Agreed
The AllStar roster is strong this year and I'm sure some of the Outlaws will run the ASCoC shows before their season opener. I've heard the 51, 7M, 25, 39, and 22 will be making the trip from PA as well so goodluck to them! Regardless of outcomes, I'm just glad were back to racing, this has to be the most boring time of year.

I wish I would have the vacation time to stay for the whole week. Maybe next year. I have your number Swamp so I will find you sometime during the weekend.
Robbie - I will look for John while I am there. If it is as cold as it has been here I may not be able to find him in the sea of parkas.
