I went to the 2nd annual Wisconsin Outlaw Sprints (WOS) banquet this past weekend and Local Motion Entertainment (Wilmot Speedway) the weekend before. I would have to say the (WOS) banquet was bi-fare a lot better. These are my reasons. Wilmot Speedway- The drivers were payed very little cash for points in fact the drivers from IMCA mods and hobby stocks were paid more for less. Checks were matched. Then they asked if the drivers would give there checks back. What the hell is wrong with these guys! I feel from a back seat drivers point a view the sprintcar drivers were treated like trash! Banquet held in Twin Lakes WI Wisconsin Outlaw Sprints- First place (THE CHAMP) made 1,000 in cash and prizes. Last place made 500 dollors in cash and prizes. I personally spent 10 dollors on raffle tickets and 200 dollors of goodies! Everyone there was happy and was treated equal and all had a good time. The food was excellant and never ending much like the beer. Great job guys looking foreword 2008. Banquet held in Kenosha WI

Huh?
You just said you attended the Wilmot banquet...
Why did you not direct your questions to the LME folks?
As far as what side I take on the issue, I agree with Dan Owings.

There were questions asked at the banquet not by me and there was no answer at that time. Noticed there were no big announcement's either.

Are you serious, SLOW MOTION ENTERTAINMENT asked for the peanuts they shelled out back! I'm glad to see this thread has 1200 views and a chili pepper! Keep up the good work wingchaser.

Where has Dan Owings posted his thought on here? My understanding is there were lots of questions directed at them at the banquet & none answered other than they don't have the money.

It's unfortuante with the history of Wilmot that Sprint Car fans are left with what is there now. It has happened to many a track if not closed down altogether. Would it not be cool to have back the Bud Wilmot Open with all the sanction options that are out there now?
The best case scenario for any facility is have some Philanthropic person or group willing to have the means to absorb financial losses on one business venture because another profitable one can offset.
I attend only the IRA shows at Wilmot, but have some friends that run the weekly shows and for what they are limited within their racing budgets, Wilmot is the only track they can run. Do I wish they could be taken care of better, well without a doubt! Do I have the be-all-end-all solution to make everyone happy? Not without a Lottery win.
Hey Ryan-If you are usure of your plans, will BJ get back into the cockpit?
Oh the Owings deal, just threw a name out there to cause trouble. If ya never meet with that guy, you miss out.

With the way the economy is going I don't see it turning a profit anytime soon. The way people are going bankrupt, houses getting fore closed on & so on with talk of a recession coming all racing is going to continue to hurt.I was at Wilmot as a child & would like to be able to take my children there as well but unfortunately the whole economy is going to have turn around for the "small buisnesses" out there to survive.I don't have the answer for that place but I do know that the current management is not the answer.

It's not looking good from what I can gather up. I have heard from several different places that LMEI is no further along with the fairboard than months ago.

The only thing not looking good is to see LMEI get the track!

New News!!! I talked to Gary Brown promoter of Wilmot Speedway this afternoon. Gary has informed me that all issues with the fairboard have been resolved. He said racing is a go for April and that a schedule will be out shortly. Check www.wilmotspeedway.com for more information that will be posted as it is available.

I hope they have weekly 410 sprints again. I don't know anything about this fairboard bitching. If I remember correctly, they at one time had what I thought were rules the rest of the country could adopt. Weight rule, RR tire rule, and a header size rule, 1 7/8", I think. Think about it, no compression checking, no cubic inch checking, very easy to see if another guy is legal or not.
Anyway, best of luck to them. If they run 410 sprints, we'll be there to race a few nights.

Wow how exciting another year watching them hold the races under caution 5 extra laps so Mike Simons can bring his heap in for another splash in hopes he makes it another 4 laps so he can come in for another splash. SLOW MOTION ENTERTAINMENT. Just speculation but the fairboards biggest complaint is that the races dont get over until midnight half the time. GET-R-DONE SMEI.

Notice it said "NEW NEWS", not "GOOD NEWS." I was hoping these yahoo's would have been gone this year. At least we won't miss "Race your Preacher" and other exciting events this year.
