same classes for next year. may go unsanctioned in hobbies and may add a sportsman class. they are trying to get it worked out to pit off turn 1.
they had a good turnout and lots of good prizes.

I heard that they were suppose to have shrimp at the Banquet tonight but they didn't come in so I think thats what the big thing was, cause it said that this could be the best 10.00 meal of your life. They want to do tailgaiting in pits and they are going to have stuff going on in the pits after the races like there is a few nights that Uncle Fester is going to be there after the races, they want to have bon fires. On July 3rd they are going to have a Fire Cracker Special. That's about it for now they will have more stuff posted on the Jackson Speedway website about whats going on.

Just out of curiosity, why do they want to pit off of turn 1? I guess i like to watch what is going on in the pits when i am in the stands. Are they thinking of doing it outside the fence or putting up cement wall and catch fence around turn 1 and 2?

I think it's safe to say...there are a lot of opinions about where and how to park race cars. With that said, I think Jon needs to consider the facts, make a decision, and then stick to it! Drivers and team owners are typically selfish people. We care about money and convenience. Jon has to look at the big picture and sometimes whats best for the speedway isn't always the best for a particular race team. Jon can't please everyone and I hope he's strong enough to make a decision and then stick to it. Not an experiment, a commitment!

Just out of curiosity for you, have you ever worked on a car all day, then loaded up and drove 100 miles (or more), then put on a show for everyone, then had to spend an extra hour and a half loading back up and waiting to get out of the pits, then that great drive home to look forward to? In the meantime, you (or any other fan) hang out at home until the last minute, head to the track, watch the race's, swing down to the pits to see your few favorites then head to your car in the parking lot and head home. Have you ever considered how much of a pain in the rear it is to do for the racer? 90% of the racetracks these days have a pit-area where you don't have to unload. Consider the racer, who is already racing for peanuts at any given track, just for once. Now do this EVERY week when alot of the times in the summer the sun is beating down on a 100 plus degree day. How enjoyable is that for the racer? Do the numbers on this stuff and get back to me will ya?

I guess I didnt realize that race teams in this area were in it for the money. I thought they did it for the fun of it and to put a show on for the "FANS" who pay to come and watch them race. The "PEANUTS" you mention in your post come from paying fans in the stands. Maybe this wouldnt be such an issue if we didnt have the enourmous rigs in the infield?

The winners of the Jackson Speedway Racing Committee's HRP wing raffle were Brenda Skrove of Jackson won the top wing and Bruce Anderson of Trimont won the nose wing. Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets, the committee will be putting the money to good use next season for the drivers.

It takes our team 10 mins to unload and reload. Not a big issue. Jon and his crew did a great job last year and I look forward to the 2008 season.

Looking forward to the 2008 season, this past season seemed like a good rebuilding season for Jackson so hopefully they can continue to go forward with the racing action.
