By Greg Parent: Coming Soon...9th Annual GRP Racing Trivia Contest (Hosted by Minnesota Dirt Track Racing website) The track crew at the mythical MDTR Speedway is busy making preparations for the 9th Annual GRP Racing Trivia Contest. The annual contest format will change a bit from the past few years. There will still be four divisions in action, but the super stock division will be expanded to include street stocks and a few IMCA stock car questions/photos as well. At the request of several fans, I will try and make the contest a little bit easier in 2008. That is not to say there won't be a few nasty old questions thrown in to try and prevent a perfect score. The contest will run in two one-week segments. Another change this year will see the first week of the contest kick off at 12:01 AM on Sunday January 20, 2008 with the sprint car and late model divisions running through Saturday January 26. Then the modified and the revamped super stock/street stock/stock car divisions take over with their contest dates running from Sunday January 27 to Saturday February 2. Each division will have seven full days of competition. By splitting them up into one week segments, contest promoter GRP will have a chance to keep up-to-date with all of the events that take place at the MDTR Speedway while concentrating on two divisions each week. Head flagman, Stan M, returns to the flagstand for his 9th contest. Stan will once again be keeping a close eye on the competition on the track, as well as the activity near the beer stand where Vinster's Maximum Babes (VMAX) all-girl pit crew will once again be signing autographs during intermission. The campground area will get wild from time to time, especially if that Bloomer0 fan from over by Shawano heads west again and mixes it up with the Superior fans. Zimmy has been known to capture some interesting pics with his Monster Zoom during past contest action. The host of characters who enter the contest in hopes of bringing home the top prize in each division usually provide plenty of photo ops and plenty to write about. The fun begins about ten days from now. Stan M will throw the green flag on the contest and set up links to it from his MDTR Message Board and the 20/20 Racing Page forum. As always, the contest is free to enter.

Vacation time-off secured and I want the title this year.

Scrounging through stacks and stacks of racing books, papers, yearbooks and making a few phone calls to racing icons from back in the day is the BEST PART.

"Google-ing" is for wimps.

My job is to stock the beer stand so you're barking up the wrong tree on that one.

I guess each contestant will have to be the judge whether I made it a little bit easier. I think I did, but maybe others will think not. I hope you enjoy the contest Michael. That Ron H from Brandon is really tough to beat in the sprint car ranks.
