23rd Annual Tulsa Shootout This Weekend!

TULSA, Okla. (December 27, 2007) – The 2007 racing season is set to end on a high note, as the 23rd Annual Tulsa Shootout will attract approximately 1,000 racing entries from throughout the nation to the Tulsa Expo Raceway inside the QuikTrip Center at the Tulsa State Fairgrounds this weekend.

A prelude to the upcoming 22nd Annual Dodge Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, the Tulsa Shootout features the up-and-coming stars of tomorrow along with some already established veterans in a wild mix of Micro Sprint Cars, Go Karts and Quads.

Following Friday's practice, action kicks off on Saturday morning with Micro and Quad heats firing off at 9:00 a.m. with Kart heats to follow. Semi-mains get under way at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, with the Tulsa Shootout championship main events going green at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening.

Currently, approximately 400 Micro Sprints are entered in five classes, approximately 400 Karts are entered in 15 classes and approximately 100 Quads are entered in four classes. Another 100 to 200 walk-up entries will bring the final total of entries to well over 1,000.

More than a dozen drivers will use the Micro Sprint portion of the Tulsa Shootout to tune up for the upcoming Chili Bowl Nationals, which takes place January 8-12, 2008. Among those are World of Outlaws ace Terry McCarl (taking on the Non-Wing division) and Tulsa-area hotshoes Brady Bacon, Donnie Ray Crawford ("A" Class and Non-Wing winner last year before finishing fifth in Chili Bowl) and defending 600-cc Multi champion Jerrod Wilson.

Other defending Micro Sprint Tulsa Shootout winners include ASCS2 Restricted "A" Class champion Tanner Mullens of Kansas and Junior Sprint winner Drew Marshall of Illinois, who not only defends his Junior Sprint title but takes on the Restricted "A" Class this year.

Nebraskans Garrett Swiggart and Jody Krug along with Iowa's Cayden Carter each pulled off double wins in the Karts last year and will be back to chase down more Golden Drillers in the Karting ranks.

Tulsa's Chase Snapp, who swept both the 250-cc and Open portions of Amateur Quad action in last year's Tulsa Shootout, makes the move to the Pro Quad ranks this year. South Dakota's Michael Coburn swept both portions of last year's Pro Quad action.

Saturday's heat race action is pit passes only at just $20 each, with pit passes $30 on Sunday. General admission for Sunday evening's 23rd Annual Tulsa Shootout championship main events is $15 for general admission.
