Pretty sad when Lynton Jeffrey posts his opinion on something, and it ends up being another Pa Posse Vs the World thread.

I liked reading what he had to say,and if you have never met Lynton (I'm sure Cubic couldnt pick him out of a lineup despite the fact he ran in Pa a few years ago) he is as blue collar as you can get. You have to have a lot of desire to move to another country, hang out your shingle, and go sprint car racing like he has.

To bad the usual legends in the sport have to turn it into the usual Pa. vs the world thread. Add all that in with the endless jokes from Duane rather than any good racing banter, and its no wonder why this message board is just a shell of what it used to be when you could come here for results, the latest dirt on various happenings, and even meeting up with new friends along the way.

Andrew, that was a great post. Ninety nine percent of the people that read this board don't care about this argument, but the problem is that it infects nearly every thread on the board. It is always the same three or four people on each side of the argument that really have ruined this board. I live in PA and once in a while I will mention something I read on here to my friends at the Grove or Lincoln and the perception of this board is that it is nothing but a place where the posters flame each other and bash the fans and drivers from other parts of the country.

Of all the racing boards I visit and post on, this is the only one that allows name calling and such blatant flaming. On pretty much any other racing board, anyone who engages in stuff like that over and over again would be gone. That probably would not have been a bad solution long before things got the way they are now.

I couldn't agree more. I've been at this for awhile. All the way back to the Open Wheel Wizard days. At least back then people didn't find it necessary to hide behind a screen name and take on positions that could only be afforded by the anonymity that a fake name offered.

Threads like this have a ton of hits so evidently someone cares...lol. Ohio has always been cheaper to run weekly because of its race tracks themselves, and the 410s have been too expensive for a long time, that's why the 360s have taken over most of the country. Common sense is common sense, no matter who keeps trying to tell you otherwise from the very top of the sport on down. Hats off to Jeff Swindell for speaking his mind as well.

This has nothing to do with PA vs the world. Let me give you a scenario. A driver competes against a majority of the drivers in the course of a year that are on the list that cubic posted. He runs very competitively against some of them and even beats some of them from time to time and wins two track championships along the way. This driver is left off of the list. Is it because he is from a lower profile area? He doesn't have the bankroll that a lot of the drivers on the list have but does that mean that his accomplishments and effort is diminished? He competes at tracks that have a good car count or atleast as good as some other locals that have made the list that also have a comparative payout. Does the list still seem to be accurate?

On another subject, cubic, on what facts or experience are you basing your opinion of ohio tracks? This isn't an attack at all. I'm just curious about the perception of our tracks by someone that is outside the area. Have you visited us? Do you communicate with alot of fans from this area? ect. ect........

I'm pretty new to Sprint Car racing as a fan, and could care less about the PA/CA/WoO/All-Star argument that will never end. I live a few minutes from Lincoln Speedway and a few more from the Grove...I went to 4 WoO features and 1 All-Star in the area and when I was there PA went 3 out of 5(and Schatz won the other 2), so I think it's a little out of line to say PA is "a joke"....I think the PA teams do an ok job of being competitive. To get back on subject, as far as fixing the racing I honestly don't think the racing needs "fixed". I saw countless last lap passes and photo finishes...I would agree that less tire would probably help seperate the men from the boys, but I don't know if that would make the racing better, it may actually spread the field out more (although I have no problem with that, if someone is that much better they stink up the show, then they deserve to be that much better....i.e., Donny Schatz starting up front at WG). As far as getting rid of the 410s, that won't fix it. What I have noticed in all forms of racing, is that the big time owners all over the world will spend their money, regardless of the rules. The 358's in PA were designed to save money, yet I already know guys turning 9200+RPMs in them at the expense of longevity and cost. My point being, limit the cars to 360s, the big owners are gonna have more expensive, more powerful, higher tech, lighter weight 360s built. There going to put more money into chassis, tire, even Aero....in the end, I think they will spend as much money/or it will get to that point very soon. Also, I thought the car counts were pretty good this year, better then some previous years. Lincoln averaged 31 cars for their weekly Saturday night show (23 total races), and that is with Port Royal running a competiting Saturday night show a mere 90 minutes away. The crowds themselves being lower, I think that has a lot more to do with economic situations (obvious example: gas prices) then it does anything else. Face it, life in general is getting very expensive, and for some people have to trade a Saturday night with some beers at the track for food on the table, clothes on their back, and gas in the tank Monday morning for work. Just adding $.02

How does every post come down to the Posse versus the World? We need a separate board just for that smack. Lynton, thanks for your thoughts. Good Luck next season. It's guys like you that make Knoxville what it is.

I agree that most tracks are not paying enough to win. If you put up the money, the bigger name drivers will show up, and then butts show up in the seats. I've said for years, that if Knoxville paid $200,000 to win the point title and $10,000 to win point races every other week, there wouldn't be much left on the Outlaws. The other weeks Knoxville could run a variety of shows, or no shows at all some weekends. And then those off nights would give some surrounding tracks a chance to promote sprint cars on a Saturday night with good cars, and it would help sprint cars get more exposure in Iowa and the Mid-West. I think too many people in Iowa have "been there, done that" in Knoxville. Point races every week is too much.

I love 410 racing, but when you can run the ASCS 360 engine for 20 plus races before a rebuild, it just makes sense. 360 is the future. Eventually everyone will have to swallow that pill, because promoters will keep hearing from car owners they need to save money to keep their car on the track. But you know, as long as I can see Kinser, Schatz, Saldana, etc. race each other, I won't care how fast they are going.

And if everyone goes to 360's across the board, we won't have 40 cars on the Outlaw tour. There isn't enough money to be made out there to support that many teams. Look at the 2007 season and how many teams survived.
