I don't know that I can agree with you on that. There's got to be very few race teams out there run by cost accountants trying to mitigate losses for their race teams. Racing is all about competition. Racers are out there to win, or at the very least pass the guy ahead of them. Nobody dreams of being interviewed on TV about their 5th place finish and their keen ability to mitigate losses.

And there is a reason for that. Except in rare instances, the driver being interviewed about where he finished isn't the same guy paying the bills.

That's true, but I can't help but think that the race teams aren't run by an accountant that looks like Bun E. Carlos from Cheap Trick, and more like some Texas high school football coach that thinks that tonight is the night his team kicks some ass and goes down into some kind of legend status.
