I don't talk about the Chili Bowl at work since some one with better senority could get my vacation spot. It's worked out pretty good, a friend of mine keeps having the weekend tickets leftover and this year I bought in. It's been a real surprise to have a world known race here and the locals for the most part have no clue.
I am no longer upset with the Daily Oklahoman ignoring this race, their lack of coverage has helped me.

Brian I hear ya. I worked from 2002-2006 with a few people from Ohio & Indiana. The plant mgr was from Indiana & he knew about The Chili Bowl before he ever moved here. My boss was from Bloomington,IN.She knew who the Kinsers were & she was all cool with my love of racing. I still don't understand how a state like this can host the biggest midget race
in the world, yet we have no midget racing any other time of the year. Most of my family lives in Tulsa & they can't figure out what the big deal is.They call the Chili Bowl "where they race those little go-cart things in the IPE building." Yeah. Right. Put me in one of those little 400 + HP "go-cart things" any time you want ......................

The next step is for EVERYONE discovering the Bowl and then trying to educate you all about it. Tulsa used to be a midget hub in the late '40s early '50s but then we spent the next 45+ years to evolve to sprint cars by starting with jalopies. I guess Emmit and Lanny just couldn't give up on the fairgrounds just yet.
Kinser.....................Kinser........................wasn't that the guy who used to drive for Kenny Bernstein? LOL
For that debacle, I wish to have a Kenny Bernstein t-shirt in case I run out of toilet paper.
Long live the KING.
