OK, so WoO drivers get a certain number of provisionals they can use. Why use it at Knoxville when there are 61 of the best winged sprint car drivers in the field and not at some bullring when only 30 cars showed up?

I believe there are 6 guys that are out of provisionals until July also.

Cuz they want to log laps in the track to learn how to be fast there.
Same reason 61 cars show up for a season opener. 35 of those cars didn't even plan to make the feature but wanted to be there for some reason.

There is no way a person should be able to take a provisional. Shouldn't even be in sprint car racing.
The lucky dog garbage in the IRA is also stupid. If they still do it....
Everyone has 2 chances to qualify for the main. If you can't do it through the heat or the B main you shouldn't be on the track for the feature. Racing is a performance driven sport. Not a well it's ok you can join in with the guys that actually did qualify to start in the proper way.

I don't mind a couple provisionals but 4 is too many. Friday's outlaw race had 1 provisional. Fine. Saturday's race jumped to 4. I like the HL rule max of 2 per race.

The HL rule is two series provisionals plus two track provisionals, so they would also theoretically start 28 if they raced at Knoxville. The Outlaws allow do not cap the amount of provisionals that could be used in one night.

Provisionals are never going away. We can beat this dead horse for 10 more years. If a national traveling series wants to fill a roster with full time drivers, this is a necessary benefit. Do away with these porvisionals, and lose full time drivers.

Provisionals aren't going away, but why use one at Knoxville and not somewhere that it would be easier to pick up some points?

I dunno. I can agree that some guys are there to get laps in. I disagree that 35 cars came there with the belief they weren't going to make the feature. I'm sure each one figured they had a Cinderella chance if everything went right to make the feature.

I would use mine every chance I got, and especially in a field of 60+ cars. The odds of needing one in a field of 30 cars is much lower and I'd hate to end up leaving one on the table! (Especially if I'm Donny and it's Knoxville)
