Very sad news for the sprint car world today as Bobby Allen has passed away. Scruffy was before my time as a fan but I've always enjoyed hearing the stories about him, and I've had the pleasure to seen his involvement with the growth of Shark Racing from where it started to what it's become. Thoughts to everyone close with Bobby during this time, and Rest In Peace Scruffy.

A true sprint car legend who loved our sport to the point that he literally lived it for over 50 years. Many stories over many years, huge impact all of us fans, racers and owners have benefited from. RIP Scruffy.

Started going to Knoxville in 1989 but never started going to Nationals until 1991 so I missed seeing him win the Nationals. Was fortunate to see him race plenty of times though. RIP Champ, My Condolences to all of the family.

RIP Bobby. What a character and legend of the sport of sprint car racing. I was such a fan of his back in the day, that my wife and I named a stray cat we adopted Scruffy. Prayers to his entire family. He certainly lived an interesting life.

Hey, does anybody remember this.....1996 Knoxville Nationals.....Bobby Allen runs one lap on his Q night, sets fast time, engine breaks, he goes home. Did I get that right? 1990 Nats was the best race I ever saw in person. RIP BA!

I went to one Knoxville nationals, it was 1990. Didn't even understand the magnitude of the event and by the time we got tickets Sat was sold out. So I was there the year he won. I'll leave it at that. Obviously touched countless lives.

Not sure the year is right, but that absoulely happened. Set fast time, first lap, broke motor on second. loaded up and went home.

Jacob and I get out, put the back door up, hop in the truck and head toward Charlotte.  Jake and I looked at each other trying to realize how mind-blowingly calm Bobby was about this and everything else in life.

Excellent story but didn't Logan get his first win at Cedar Lake in 16'?
