The cushion wasnt the place to be as Donnie moved toward the front as Kofoid Larson and Sheldon all spun . It was Sheldons to lose. Not a great surface but same for all.

Did Sheldon start at the back because he spun and stopped but Buddy kept his spot cuz he didn't stop even with the yellow? Is that how it works?

Yes you are spot on. Since kofoid continued it's called an inadvertant yellow. Kofoid got spot where he blended in. Sheldon stopped completely so end of lead lap cars. Both series should reboot this. If ypu are the reason for the yellow it should be to the tail and guys doing 360s and darting primarily out of control shouldn't be rewarded it's a big safety issue imo

I disagree, but only an opinion. In my opinion, this takes all of the gray-area out of it. If you stop, you go to the rear. If you don't, you take the spot you were running when yellow came out.
Otherwise, you open a whole can of worms as to who was involved. For instance, if the yellow is thrown for Buddy's spin, shouldn't Sheldon go to the rear for squeezing him which caused the spin? I don't believe he should, but this is what you'd have. What if someone just bumps buddy's tire as they skip by? Contact right? They go the rear too? Where do we draw the line. I like the black and white--you need to be pushed, you go to the rear. You are able to continue on, you don't. Nice and simple. Now, that said, both series reserve the right to rule that a car maliciously caused a yellow, and they can penalize for that based on opinion----which I'm fine with.
I don't believe I can recall a car being involved in a wreck, that continued on, and did not go to the pits, that was sent to the rear of the race----in any series, ever, unless they purposely wrecked another car. 2007 Knoxville Nationals with Dude and Brownie is a perfect example. That was 18 years ago. Rule is the same. People think this is a new rule. It's been around for a long, long time.

You cause the caution, you go to the tail. You spin and do a 360 but still keep going - automatic yellow and you go to the tail.
If I were the king for a day, lol!

Hey, you're entitled to your opinion. However, let's talk about the shitstorm that comes from "you cause the yellow and you go to the tail." Who is the judge, jury and executioner for this decision? You think social media is exploding now? All the officials have to think about now is who jumped the start of a race. That is complete chaos at every race. Now, let's add in having officials determine cause of yellows. I'm not on board. The current system creates the least amount of chaos.

The old allstar rule of if ypu do a 360 it's automatic yellow and automatic to rear was pretty cut and dry imo

I'm not sure that I remember a race where someone did a 360, tried to keep on going and crashed into another car.

Agreed. Wasn't any hand-wringing over anybody else being involved either. Blake Anderson made sure to point out that their teams requested that rule on safety grounds to keep drivers from causing bigger problems trying to do the 360. I believe USAC still uses the spin rule.
