Johnny tweeted this late this afternoon from the hospital.
"UPDATE: First of all, thank you SO much for the get well wishes. Long story short, after an "episode" at 6am, I've learned that I have AFib. I'm being treated/observed, and assuming all goes well, I should be discharged tomorrow and be back at Arrowhead Friday!"

This is a very serious condition and should not be taken lightly by anyone. Being person with Ishemic heart disease due to exposure to agent orange in viet nam the conditions are wide spread and deadly serious. heart disease is the number one killer of americans to the tune of 700, 000 anually. don't think it cant happen to you, think again!! most posteres here are of my age bracket. do yourelf a life saving procedure and get a complete physical. don't be one of the 700K stats, DO IT!!!
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

I'm doing well. Adjusting t0 "AFib" life--and working with doctors to get the dosage on my meds right, etc. It's a process. Making some healthy lifestyle changes (the most difficult of which is drastically cutting back my enormous daily caffeine intake). Heredity is a huge part of Afib from what my doctor said. My dad and his sister both have it. Dad underwent a cardiac ablation just a few weeks ago--so far the results seem VERY good. I may be a candidate for that procedure at some point, but the initial plan is to try to control it with meds.
I plan to be back at all World of Outlaws races the rest of the year.

Glad you are ok as that is a very scary situation to be in. I had a situation happen at the age of 22 in a hockey game from a simple little collision cause my heart to go into AFib. Thought it was something as simple as getting the wind knocked out of me at first and kept playing. Long story short, they found I had 2 pulses in my heart, and 4 days later I finally was able to walk out of the hospital after getting an ablation myself as the doctors were concerned with how high my heart rate got while I was in AFib.
As scary as the thought of having your heart worked on can be, I would highly recommend it if it is ever an option on the table for you. There essentially was no pain at all thanks to how they go into you, and I do not think I have had an AFib situation since. Risk is still always there as well as the stroke concerns later in life but, it has given me peace of mind. My cousin has AFib as well and is currently on the medication to help with it and watches his caffeine intake as well. I think he found certain herbal teas and fruit smoothies can give your body a little more of a natural energy boost. A little food prep needed with making them and might be hard to do with your travel schedule but, they are pretty good.

When I was in my mid 50's my body decided that it was done with energy drinks. Those made my heart race as well so if you drink a lot of those you might want to mention that as well. Take care of the voice and get back to your old self soon.

The Outlaws may need to drop NOS as a sponsor so we can keep Johnny as the announcer.

getting the meds dosage right for my body was the difficult part. with my doctors permission the two heeart pain meds, ranalozine and isorbaside were the most difficult to figure out as dizzyness, lightheaded, balance issues are the side effectswere the main issue except for amlodopine for BP. Its a lifelong journey Johnny, never dont think you dont need them and stop, thats a bad move with sever consequences...take care brother

Sprint cars are too fast and exciting for our man. No more punk rock concerts for you either. Maybe girls basketball? Bring it.....
