We've seen the banking industry get away with a failure not all that long ago that the taxpayers were forced to support through a "loan" from them. I hope and am pretty sure there are checks and balances now to help prevent it from happening anytime soon?

But.. Are you trying to say local tracks/speedways could close down because families would have to go in debt to visit those venues? I have many friends that go to premier sporting events but they don't take out loans to attend them, we might save up for a year or so but a loan seems a bit extreme. Maybe I've been way to comfortable under my rock but have times changed that much that people have to take out loans for live entertainment?

Just a generalizaion of our economy. Life got very expensive the last five years and poeple make very bad choices with money.

Here is how this works for me.  Vikings, Wild, Twins, pay for parking.  Standing in a half inch of piss in front of a plugged urinal at dirt tracks while drunks threaten to piss in my back pocket if I don't hurry = free parking or streaming.

Parking $20.00, tickets @ $35.00 medium bag of kettlecorn @ $15.00...

Curious as to what other regions are charging...

Back in the 1960's I skipped a USAC race at Heidelberg(PA) and went to North Hills(PA) because Heidelberg charged $.25 for the overflow parking lot.  Still consider the $100 I spent for a pit pass at the MOPAR MILLON a bargain.  Spent $200 for a Fleetwood Mac concert.  Just enjoy.

North Hills??  Wasn't that the track that had the dog training facility just behind the frontstretch stands?  I vageuly remember being there a couple of times.  It MIGHT have been the first place I ever saw a figure 8 race. If I'm not mistaken, they ran weekly shows on Thursday nights?  I know it closed when 279 was built--late 1970's? (I was born in 1968, so I would have been around 9 or 10 at the time.)

Live Entertainment is more expensive.  I attended a rugby match featuring the Rugby Football Club of LA which is very much a niche sport in a 3,000 seat stadium.  Parking was $15 and match tickets were 34.95, however the best seats which were the 50 yard line were $68.  Soda was $9.

If you want a cheap ticket, you have a few options.  1)Travel to Eldora Speedway and enjoy cheap beers and reasonable tickets, of which you now have travel costs 2)move to Western Ohio where you can live and see Eldora, Attica and Fremont racing as well as some non wing runs into Indiana.  Your cost of a house would drop to about 300k, but your income might plumet as well.

Now if you can work remote and keep a SoCal salary while living in a small town in Western Ohio, lets just say you can afford any type of ticket!

$20 is a bargain for parking compared to $30 this Saturday for High Limit.   Too rich for my pocketbook (plus gas, tickets, concessons)

Well Most Horse tracks are free to attend. Just consider your Gambling and program as the cost of the ticket.

"Something has to give". How about the losers that can't control their spending habits instead of the banking industry? Live within your means and quit being the crying victim. BTW, paying to park sucks but if you wanna be a player you better be a payer.

you are missing my point compoletely and just talking smack once again.  retirement is 70K a year, so why the childish remark, whiny loser and cant pay attitude here?  do us all a favor and get positive insertion into your dismal keyboard...your remarks are actually being "the crying victim" here...

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

Wow. It took you a whole month to come up with that snappy reply. You should have taken another month or two to work on it but it would probably still have made no sense.

I didn't miss your point and many other readers understood mine, you just like reading the parts you like. Everyones retirement is different, I'm living quite comfortably on about half of the figure you mentioned. I think the AO has gotten to your brain.,

So you just want more fans to stay home? How will that help the racetrack?

Did you read and comprehend my other posts? You'll have to point out to me where I stated anything that has to do with your questions.

That's sad to see. Some of the best times of my life were at the PAS back in the 90's and early 2000s. Good fields of cars, reasonable prices and great racing. Southern California sprint car racing appears to be approaching the end of the road. I'll be there for the High Limit show later this month and that will probably be my last visit. At least I'll get to show my son where I used to have such good times.

After the end of the CRA, The SCRA days were awesome, with 50+ car fields at the PAS. Let us not forget those that stabbed Ron Shuman and the SCRA in the back to align with USAC!  Among the drivers and owners, Rip Williams and John Jory... YOU own this... you are largely responsible for the demise of the SoCal traditional sprint car scene. I hope you're proud of yourselves.
