So Zeb Wise "qualified" for the C Main on Saturday because of his performance to that point. He then pops a motor in the C main hot laps, and is a scratch for the C main. Since he is a scratch, they take 5 out of the D instead of the normal 4. My question is whether or not Zeb recieved any money for Saturday? Does he get last place's money for the C? Does he get the money that was going to go to the person who finished 5th in the D main? Does he get a whole lot of nothing?
I know that for most races that you have to start a main to get paid for the main, but since this is a multi day show and he "qualified" for the race does that alter any of what happens?

That's a great question. I always assumed you had to take a lap to be paid at the Nats, but not sure

Hahn posted on Fri that they hurt a motor and their nationals was finished. Then he started in the back of his semi on Sat and immediately pulled in. I assumed that meant he had to start to get paid. Was also surprised he didn't have another motor.

I'm not sure starting in the C main midpack is worth trying to swamp out an engine, plus I think they would have been against the clock at that point.

My guess is that you have to start the race to get paid.
