Back in the 70's I remember a Vermeer sprint car numbered 87 that was driven by Tony Simon at Ascot. Later, there was a Vermeer 87 that Tony Jones drove at Perris in the '90s. I believe that in both cases the owner was Tony Vermeer. Is the current wing car out of Iowa any relation to those? I'm assuming it's not, but this has been on my mind for a while now.

The 87 driven by Tony Simon was owned by Bob Vermeer and the car driven by Tony Jones was owned by Bobs son Johnny Vermeer. Not sure about a connection with the wing guys.

Thanks for the information. Not sure why I thought it was Tony Vermeer. Maybe I was mashing Tony Jones and Bob Vermeer's names together in my confusion.

You're welcome, I call those thoughts Senior Moments (lol). I knew your father John from the time that I worked for Cary Faas.
