Nice reasonable rules for their series.  Keep the costs way down and puts the emphathis on abilty and driving skills instead of bleeding cubic money like too many sprint car classes. It's not a crate class per se and is an affordable option for the tracks and more racers.Everyone isn't a professional with unlimited funds.  More cars.  Better competition.  How can that be a bad thing?

It can't be a bad thing.  What becomes a bad thing is when people start campaigning to bring costs down in the 410 series.  There is no need for that.  There are series out there that are built to control cost.  The top of the mountain shouldn't be that class.  The top of the mountain is for the deeper pockets.

The 410 series should be "run what ya brung.....hope ya brung enough"    Keep the cost controls in the 360's and 305's.

To a point. Would you be ok with 500 cubic inch titanium motors in 1100# sprint cars running 8x8 top wings?

Well no, that's why it's the 410 CID class with the current rules package in place that works and why it's thriving across the country even in this inflationary economy.

Read egras' post that I was quoting and you'll see the context of my reply.

I did read his post an I agree with it. I too wish people would quit constantly calling for them to make new rules to bring the costs down in the 410 class. The exisiting rules work fine, the 410's are the big dogs  if you can't run with the big dogs stay on the porch or go run 305's or 360's or Iron headed Limited Sprints...

I don't disagree with those that say sprint car racing in general is in a good place right now.  But why is keeping costs under some kind of control a bad thing?  Is the idea that WoO and HL should be the equivalent of Formula 1 where spending is ridiculous?  Are we not trying to be conscious of car counts for weekly 410 racing?  (Yes, I'm aware counts are decent now, but they haven't always been and won't always be.)  Shouldn't weekend warriors have as much chance of winning races as anyone else?  If the answer is "no," then what's the point of continuing with WoO and HL structures as they are?

Weekend warriors should have as much of a chance as anyone else?  They do have the same chance.  Maybe not with weekend warrior equipment, but the stuff the big teams are running is also available to them.  Racing at the top level in any form favors the deeper pockets.  The 410 cars are the top level.  Showing up to race with weekend warrior equipment is fine.  Expecting to win in weekend warrior equipment is, and should be a fantasy.  Just like 20 cars show up at a NASCAR event every Sunday with hopes of a top-15.  Just like most F1 cars show up hoping they can charge to 4th.  They know they can't win with what they have, but hope to get to that level someday OR are racing because they love it.  It's always been this way---always.

There are budget classes out there for budget guys/gals.  No need to rein in the 410 class.  Not saying there shouldn't be limits and rules.
