Dang just got home to fire up dirtvision and see it canceled. Looking at pictures and man I feel for those people camped and flooded out. Stay safe everybody.

Weather is one factor in racing we cant control. $250K to win Saturday with both HL and WOO together. Some events have rain insurance. Just the pre advertising plus all the concession preparations cost a lot. Todd is one of best promoters of a first class facility that He brought back to life! Not many big paydays except at Knoxville,Eldora, and Husets. Whether its $12K to win or $250K the racers still want to win and put on good show. Many weekly shows have good car counts with good races and average purse but lack the  star power or brand of WOO and HL.

Just drove by there a little bit ago. I'd estimate the water in the infield is probably still waist deep, and the 30-40 campers are still out in the camping area in about 4 feet of water.  frown

Of all weeks for this to happen! I feel bad for the track, fans and race teams. Sucks losing such a big paying event.

Surprisingly, I think the last big flood like this, about 5-10 years back, only put them out of commission for about 7-10 days.

I've never been in this situation.  I feel horrible for what happened to them.  What stopped them from moving their equipment in a timely manner?

Port Royal & Williams Grove have some big $$$ races too

I'm guessing you're from West of the Mississippi?

There was a flood in 2018 but I don't think the track was operating at the time.

Husets Speedway is not the only race track in the area flooded out.

Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids Iowa is totally flooded out & announced that their racing season has been suspended indefinitly until the facility is completely fixed up & safe.

And also add Park Jefferson Speedway near Sioux City IA - Totally flooded out

There is some uncertainty among the locals as previos floods were a result of winter snow melt.  This long period of one heavy rain after another isn't normal spring rainfall.  The same systems have been hitting us after they pass through that area.  By way of example I just might get lucky today and get the riding mower into the back yard for the first time in a couple weeks without leaving muddy ruts.  Most years we're doing a rain dance by late June.  I'm not surprised to hear about Rock Rapids and Sioux City.  At least we have plenty of high ground up here but have still seen road closures in east central Minnesota.

Someday in the future this will likely be known as "that crazy year".

Sioux Falls got over 10 inches of rain in 2 days. Places are flooded all over the region, the creek nearby didn't help but it was an absurd amount of rainfall that caused this.

Their website shows their next race in eleven days, July 7.  I'm guessing there wasn't any racing on the original schedule the week after the High Bank which ended up cancelled.  That gives them a couple weeks from the flood to the next event.  I would guess there is some cleanup and going through everything checking for damage.  That would be a big thing to recover from in a week.

What a disaster they are dealing with.. Some of that infrastructure is going to take a long time to rebuild and get things back to normal. I was kind of curious if any of our local race teams from the Sioux Falls / Tea area were directly affected by any of the major flood areas! Zomer, Garners, Justin Henderson Matt Juhl, Kaleb Johnson?

I feel bad for the people who suffer financially from this.  But a lot of folks got a wakeup call as to the power of mother nature.  Just remembering that tornado that took down a row of wind turbines in Iowa.....wow, but no racetracks!
