Day is very good and earned his win .How Kyle can still be on podium from deep is a testament to his talent. The $12K winners purse is one reason there are two leagues. The HL deal is helping increase purse money plus midweek races. I like the increased competitiveness of 60 cars but only 24 get a check except card members. Time trials are still impoetant.

Time trials are always going to be important in all forms of professional racing.
I didn't realize what the winner's take was, nor as a spectator do I really care all that much. The drivers and teams that are there as an expensive hobby, have no chance to take the winner's check anyways. The drivers doing it for a living are doing it with sponsors money. So, was the purse enough? Sure seemed to be. 64 cars showed up.

Laps/ as many as possible to get dialed in for the nationals is the reason for the big turnout.. Its no coincidence hl was off on the two woo weekend dates at knoxville.
I dont understand why people would think it would not be 12,000 to win its just a standard 2 day show. Its amazing the people that go to races frequently that have no clue whats going on.....

Well seriously, you have 64 cars in the pits, 2 fantastic features, and the first thing that I read is "it only pays $12,000?" @#%ing boo hoo. I don't have a financial skin in the game, no one on Hoseheads balances the books for any teams, tracks, or series. Why the @$%@ would I give a crap what the winners share is? The car turnout was incredible! The features were incredible. They spent the time to prep mid race Friday night, perfect decision. They hammered through 90 cars last night and beat the rain on a track that was very racy! No, let's not say "great job woo" or "great work knoxville" or "wow what a great show"......LETS BITCH AND MOAN ABOUT SOMETHING, SO WHY NOT THE PURSE THAT EVERY TEAM KNEW ABOUT BEFORE THEY SHOWED UP!!!

I'm just happy I can have a great time at the track with my son and not be miserable about every single race, series, and decision, and don't feel the need to cry conspiracy every single night. I guess I should just be thankful that I actually enjoy it rather than loathe it.

I am thinking the judge threw your case out long ago in the discovery phase of your trial...
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

Those that make these kinds of comments have no clue. This guy is awesome to see a race with. Very knowledgeable. Some of you are just dumb and pretend to understand what he is saying.

Great weekend for the young man for sure!!!! Gravel (1-4); Day (7-1), McFadden (4-7) and Donny Schatz (10-2) were the only 4 of 64 cars with top 10's both nights. Consistency by those 4 make them ones to watch in August.

I thought both features were great! Multiple guys charged double-digit spots in the 2 nights! Large flights of qualifying trapped some cars deeper in heats and in the non-qualifier races and some of those cars trapped deep in the 8th-11th heat starting spots were able to put some moves on and lock into the field through the heats. Other cars were able to lock in through the B and make a charge. Finally, Logan tagged the field with a provisional and made some great headway. That is one thing I love about Knoxville---given all of the opportunities to advance, the cream always rises to the top by night's end!!!! The nice thing is, with high car counts, the straight up heat line-ups are usually still entertaining enough for those that prefer the inverts. We had 3 newbies in our group and we had to explain to them what positions they should be watching for. To a new fan, they would see the pole sitter run away from the field and assume the heat sucked. I told them to watch the battle for 2nd and the battle for 5th and it became much more enjoyable for them. Also huge if they can advance another spot from 5th to 4th as it advanced their A main start by 4 spots!
Great racing all weekend. Cool to see what was basically like 2 straight Nationals qualifying nights!

As Maddog says, you wanna hang out at the races with me, you're going to have a good time-----I promise! I never bitch about the racing surface. I never complain about the purse. I've never hated on the format. I don't engage in conspiracy theories. If a heat race was follow the leader, I just wait for the next race rather than grumble about that one not instantly entertaining me. I'm overly positive about the races while I'm in attendance and all about a good time. If anyone in my group wants to complain about the races, they can go sit somewhere else. Living life buddy!
Stop by my camper before or after the races at any time and my cooler is your cooler!

I was there, and yes, Larson was on a different level. We could see in person, the things DV didn't show. His results didn't show it, but assuming he can keep all 8 cylinders firing for all 50 laps, he is going to be very, very tough to beat. Friday night no one was close. (Gravel closed briefly before Larson's motor laid down completely) Saturday night, the race ended at what would be the 1/2 way point in August, and he had already charged from 13th to 3rd. That 15 car was looming all weekend too. That guy is all business.
My favorites have to be Larson, Schatz, Gravel, Logan, and Day----in that order. But, it's a fun debate. Macedo, Rico, and Sweet looked off so they drop from my top-5. Sheldon is getting a little faster each time as well, but not quite there.
