The problem most people do not GET is that getting workers to man the concession stands, maybe food service deliveries, medical people etc. If it is a mid week race, some people may have scheduled the off day and cannot make it the next day because of work. IF these groups would specify that there is a rain date for the next day, then people could plan for it.

It costs the track extra to schedule a rain date with the sanctioning fee than it does to schedule race day only without a scheduled rain date.

I wondered about that too. Maybe the track and grounds were just too saturated. Maybe the track didn’t have staffing. Maybe Brad had something to attend to back in CA.
HL rained out last Saturday and raced the make-up Sunday. They seem to be more open to it than WoO who have had 4 or 5 complete rained out weekends this season and no make up races yet. Last summer the Outlaws rained out after qualifying on Wednesday July 19 and raced a full show the next night as a make-up. So it is possible and it does happen sometimes. Attendance may be lower for the make-up race but streaming numbers are probably pretty good especially during mid week races when there isn’t much competition (other local races or streamed races ).
If HL continues to schedule make up races (like they did last weekend) and WoO continues to have complete cancelled weekends, wouldn’t that make HL much more attractive to sprint car drivers and teams ?

If you schedule an event with the world of outlaws and would like the following day to be a rain date, the track/promotor pays an extra fee for that option...not BS guessing, but 100% true. This came up the first year King's Royal Weekend moved to 4 days and included Wednesday, 2019. Tony rescheduled the rained out Let's Race Two from May to the Wednesday before the Royal 3 day weeked in July.
The Brad Doty Classic (day before on tuesday) rained out and people were mad that Eldora "took" the Doty's raindate to add a day. Brad himself (the promotor of the Brad Doty Classic) cleared it up by informing everyone that they (the brad doty classic), to keep costs minimal never paid for a Wednesday rain date as part of the sanctioning fee in years past when scheduling the event, nor did they in 2019. The Doty was ran later in 2019 as an All Star race due to the WoO rain out of the original date.
Again not BS guessing, but like most on here, facts get in the way of some's opinions.

If a race rains out, and no make up, does the track still pay a promoters fee to WOO or HL?
Like other's, it seems silly not to (try) to build in a rain date for the competitiors, fans and even race track if it's feasible. Nobody wins and most lose.
Easy to be a keyboard promoter/series. Many considerestions like local noiise ordinance, permission to run midweek race, safety crew, track workers, etc Pretty sure WOO and HL want to race (and make $). Rain is a 4 letter wood.

I do not know. I did notice Michigan advertised the Sunday rain date. Davenport, of course, did not advertise a rain date.

I was told some tracks buy insurance if rained out to cover cost of promoting the race etc

What the hell do you know Maddog-----you've only been around this sport since I was in diapers.......................(yes, I'm taking a shot at your age too)
If it were as easy as people think it is, it would be done.
(see ya at Knoxville by the way)

I agree many factors for a track to consider running a rain date. Everyone wants to race of course, it isn't always possible though.
