Merry Christmas! REMINDER: You folks can put that vacation request in for the first week of June this year -- June 3rd through 8th. This will be the second annual USMTS Southern Series Speedweek and the Wednesday through Saturday have already been booked. We're planning on racing Tuesday night through Sunday night. 6 tracks in 6 nights so plan one of those vacation weeks for the first week of June!

Others???

SURPRISE! Alan Mondus, Lakeville, Minnesota! Alan -- a Kasson Speedway regular -- shocked folks all over the mid-regions -- south & north -- with a big $2000, first career USMTS win on Friday in ...what else?... a Skyrocket Chassis and an older one at that. Mondus & family decide to vacation for two weeks in the warm south starting with the USMTS shows in South Texas on Novemeber 15th. After rain washed out McAllen over Thanksgiving and some time on the beach, they pulled into Houston Raceway Park on November 29th. Mondus qualified for all 3 shows and only needed a B-main once all weekend and that was at the barnburner. On Friday, he qualified top eight and re-drew "3" to start behind front row guys, Jamie Burford and Jason Hughes. As those two swapped the lead around on the first lap, Alan saw his opportunity with a 3-wide move on the inside to become the lead "locomotive in the train" as they completed lap one. That was all he needed, that, and to keep his car on the bottom and there were times when they would get a few green flag laps in a row in, that it was getting harder to keep that yellow #55 down low. Burford would get a wheel under him at times but in the end, Mondus prevailed. Mondus also finished all the laps at the rodeo for a top ten finish but was the first DNF of the barnburner. Didn't matter, I think he kept the smile going all the way back home to Minnesota!

You can read more on Alan at this thread: http://65.36.191.73/showthread.php?t=51678&highlight=Alan+Mondus or see Alan's website at www.alanmondus.com . The kid's won a $10,000 "bar stool" race? He's not even old enough to drink! HA!

Jeff Johnson from Joplin, Missouri made the trip down but was only there on Thursday night. He was one of the many DNFs from the rodeo B mains that night. Not sure if he broke something bad, wrecked or what. Wasn't there. If all he got to see was Thursday night, I'm sure he left unimpressed. Wish or hope, he got to see Saturday night's finale before they left. If anybody knows Jeff, I'd like to get in touch with him.
