Merry Christmas! REMINDER: You folks can put that vacation request in for the first week of June this year -- June 3rd through 8th. This will be the second annual USMTS Southern Series Speedweek and the Wednesday through Saturday have already been booked. We're planning on racing Tuesday night through Sunday night. 6 tracks in 6 nights so plan one of those vacation weeks for the first week of June!
Few more Louisiana guys...
Shane Hebert from near Lafeyette had the Express Race Cars Hughes Chassis really running well but had some bad luck and a miscalculation. Hebert was strong enough to make the top eight redraw both nights that he was there for. On Friday night, he was fourth in line as they crossed under the white flag and was headed for his best USMTS finish to date. (He had an 8th at Fast Trax in July) USMTS weighs at least the top 3 after every race not that Shane planned on being light. After the Burford & Hughes spins, Hebert came in second but....ironically, "9" pounds light at the scales. DQ. At the barnburner, Hebert was strong again but ended up being the final DNF of the event for a 15th place finish.
Charlie Morrow from Deville drove the Ducote Motorsports #8J TRE Chassis on Friday and Saturday. Friday's slick track had him scratching his head a little but he looked much better on Saturday night. He was in the hunt for a transfer spot in his B but ended up out of the event before it finished.
Former Sabine Motor Speedway track champion John Parker from Many was there supporting the show as always on Friday & Saturday. He didn't get to start his B on Friday night but was much better on Saturday night. Still wound with a DNF in his B but ran well while he was out there. John always supports the bigger Modified shows whenever he can and we really appreciate the Parker gang! They travel a lot with Shannon Cox out of Milam, Texas -- who always seems to be there with those two Limiteds too. Thanks guys!
Carencro's Kevin Dupont -- a Baton Rouge Raceway regular -- was there Thursday and Friday. He "rodeo-ed" his way from 15th to 8th in one of Thursday's B. On Friday, he broke early in his B and wasn't back for Saturday night.
