WORLD OF OUTLAWS SHIFT MARCH 23 EVENT TO KENNEDALE AFTER LAWTON FIRE

The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series is shifting its event on March 23 from Lawton Speedway to Kennedale Speedway Park, creating a huge two-day weekend in the Dallas-Fort Worth region with Big “O” Speedway.

The event at Lawton was canceled because a recent fire at the track resulted in the loss of the facility’s press box and more than 60 reserved seats, along with smoke damage to the concessions. Working with track and series officials, the event was able to shift to Kennedale.

Lawton track personnel worked diligently in the fire’s aftermath to prepare the facility but determined the damage to be too extensive and severe to have it ready by race day.

The new doubleheader weekend in Texas kicks off Friday, March 22, at Big “O” Speedway in Ennis before heading an hour northwest to the Saturday night Cowtown Roundup at Kennedale. Both events will pay $12,000 to win.

If you purchased a ticket in advance for the Lawton Speedway event, you will receive a face-value credit to your MyDirtTickets.com account – good for two years – to be used toward any World of Outlaws event available at WorldofOutlaws.com/tix. If a credit to your account does not work for you, then you have until April 12 to request a refund.

Tickets for the new Kennedale race will go on sale Thursday, March 14. Fans who had purchased tickets to the previously canceled Kennedale weekend can use the credit on their account to buy tickets for the new March 23 race.

The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series was meant to make its debut at Kennedale Speedway Park earlier this month before weather hindered those plans. Now, Texas fans get another chance to see The Greatest Show on Dirt during the one-day Cowtown Roundup.

Heads up: about 1/3 of the reserved section tickets have sold since ticket sales reopened yesterday.

RACE WEEK UPDATE:

At the time of writing, about 60% of the reserved section tickets have sold since they went on sale Thursday. My guess is the rest will be scooped up in the next day or two, so if you are wanting that option:

NEW FOR THIS KSP WoO EVENT ONLY:

-The general admission seating area will be split into two areas.The bottom 7 rows of the main grandstand are GA and for this event only, there are great GA viewing area temporary stands on the backstretch. There will also be a food stand with a sandwich basket special in that location. There are also port-a-pots set up so you don't have to go around the track to get to the restroom. There is no sound system in the backstretch seating area, but you can hear some while the engines are idle.

-There is going to be a beer and bar sales vendor in the main grandstand area. No outside food or drink is allowed in on 3/23.

For this particular weekend at KSP, there is no RV/camping spaces available on-site.

3/20 RESERVED TICKETS UPDATE:

Since reserved tickets went on sale last Thursday, about 3/4 of them have been sold since.

>Reminder: if you bought tickets to the event that rained out 2 weeks ago, you DO NOT have tickets to this event! You have a CREDIT on your account and you must repurchase tickets with your credits to have tickets to this event!

Also note that GENERAL ADMISSION tickets are for sale at the same link and are a LIMITED SUPPLY.

There are really nice temporary stands set up on the backstretch with very good visibility (but I wouldn't sit on the bottom row or two due to the wall height).

8AM MARCH 23 RACE DAY UPDATES:

- Pits open at 2pm, Grandstands open at 4pm, Hot Laps 6:30pm; food, beer & cocktail vendors on site.

- Today Mostly sunny, with a high near 67. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.

- Tonight Mostly cloudy, with an overnight low around 56. Southeast wind 5 to 15 mph.

- Car Show & Parade downtown Kennedale from noon - 3pm.

- The top 9 rows of the main frontstretch grandstands are reserved and A SMALL AMOUNT of remaining reserved section seats remain (at the time of writing).

- There are two divisions racing: $12,000/win World of Outlaws sprint car series plus a 24-car invitational (entries closed) for the IMCA Southern SportMods.
