Jason Meyers Teams Up
with Corey Tucker to Run Chili Bowl
Replaces Ryan Newman who bowed out due to a
scheduling conflict
CLOVIS,
Calif. (December 14, 2007) – Jason Meyers has had a
busy schedule since closing his season at Lowe's Motor Speedway, as he took
home both the Cotton Classic and Trophy Cup wins in California, putting him on
a four-week win streak. Today, Meyers is
announcing that he has teamed up with Penske Racing's Corey Tucker, along with
teammates Randy Hannagan and Jerry Higbie, Jr. to make a run for the 2008
edition of the DODGE Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A STORY ABOUT HOW IT ALL CAME TOGETHER
Penske Racing's driver Ryan Newman was scheduled
to pilot the Corey Tucker Racing (CTR) no. 39 midget at his first ever Chili
Bowl Midget Nationals, however due to scheduling conflicts, Newman was forced
to give up his seat. Chris Luck of GLR Investments, in speaking with a
friend of his whom also works at Penske Racing, was put in contact with Tucker and
got the ball rolling.
The next step in the process was to procure
sponsorship for the event, and between Luck and Tucker, the two proved to be a
dynamic duo. Tucker brought Mopar,
Bullet Chassis, Gary Stanton
Engines, Penske Shocks, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions (BMRS), Kenny's Components and K & N
Filters to the table, most of who had already partnered up with Meyers to run with
the WoO. Chris
Luck is once again on board with his company, GLR Investments
and through a long time friendship with Fred Smith, along with his sons Jason and Darrin all of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma,
Kwik Kar Broken Arrow has announced sponsorship of Meyers in his third attempt
to take home the Golden Driller trophy from the promoters of the Chili Bowl.
"Dad (Fred) and Chris (Luck) have been good
friends for a long time and the Chili Bowl is one of our favorite racing events
of the entire season. When Chris called
and said that he was working with CTR to put Jason
in the Chili Bowl, it was a no-brainer for Kwik Kar Broken Arrow to jump on
board," said co-owner, Jason
Smith. "With Jason's hot streak at the end of the season, we are
definitely looking forward to making it five race weekends in a row that he has
won!"
TWO BOWLS OF CHILI ALREADY FOR MEYERS
2003 would see Meyers make his maiden voyage to
Tulsa for his first ever Chili Bowl run, strapping into the Roy and Dallen
McKenney machine, finishing third on his preliminary night and making an
impressive run to sixth place in the main event. His run would earn him the Chili Bowl Rookie
of the Year.
Two years later, Meyers would again head
southeast in January, this time to run for Team Maxim Racing, where he would
transfer through the C-Main to the
B-Main, but would not make it any farther.
"I had heard the hype about the event, but
simply had not had a solid chance to run it, and I was given that chance in
2003 for the first time and it was a race I'll never forget," commented Meyers. "I'm extremely grateful to everyone who came
together to get me in a seat for the 2008 race, especially Chris (Luck) and the
guys down at Kwik Kar of Broken Arrow."
