Now back to revisit HRP....
There's a lot of people to thank. Some I know who they are and some I don't.
Like Delta Flange Manufacturing and Batterbee Racing for one -- who helped sponsor the show at the last minute.
And Mark and Chris Brown together with Modern Machine Works (David Horner) who also stepped up big! Thanks guys.
I heard there were others who graciuosly helped out after we got to the track. Whoever you are, thanks!
A big thank you to Angel Bros. Construction, all the Houston Raceway Park staff, Speedway Manager Larry Rollo and Todd (who leased the track for this first year) for taking a chance this late in the season and sticking with it after the deluge the track got the Sunday before the race. And to Maryetta Spring who not only does a wonderful job singing the National Anthem but helped us get set up in the tower. Thanks to Larry and Maryetta for the hospitality while we were there. And to Chris Teeter -- a new Houston-area resident -- for auditioning at HRP at just the right time to help me out.
And most of all, a big thanks to the 74 different Modified teams that pulled through the gates over the entire 3-day weekend (there was actually a 75th one -- Longview's Billy Melton, Jr. with a new car -- who's tow rig broke down on the way on Friday and he was unable to make it as a result) and also the 64-plus Limited Modifieds who did the same. Based on these counts alone, the show's a success. Now the fan count was very light Thursday and still too light on Friday but, that was a pretty good crowd on Saturday for a first year show! I got a feeling we'll do much better in 2008 after the word spreads about the show they got to see on Saturday night!
Oh, do I have more....and that's greatly understated I'm afraid!
