after 63yrs of watcing racing i finally made it to Volusia...It was kinda of funny driving out from Daytona Beach and seeing the track. Reminded me of the first time going to Eldora....wondering what is this place going to be like...Then all of a sudden the traffic slows and there is a back up going into the track...WOW... i thought there are a lot of people here....Great.. Talk about fast..The track was fast and the competition....love seeing alot of top notch teams go against each other.  The facility was pretty nice the owners have put alot of money into the place. Spent two night at Volusia then went to the Bubba for the USAC race...crowd was small ...the track...well lets just say i've seen a lot nicer of places..but...it was racing and thats what i came for. We had scheduled the trip for the last night to go to East Bay..glad we changed plans...rained out...too far to drive (2 1/2 hrs) from Daytona. All in all had agreat time spent time with my brother..seen some good racing and can't wait for the rest of the season to get here...sad part of the trip was coming back to the cold in Pa ....Come on Spring

After seeing races at close to 70 tracks in my lifetime (amazing how many tracks are no longer open) Volusia is on my life bucket list, along with Charlotte and Lucus Oil Speedway. I am glad you had a good experience. I am also a Pa race fan. In the old days, I would be counting the days until the Ice Breaker at Lincoln in February, but now my season usually begins in April, when the weather is a tad warmer.

Volusia definitely on my bucket list.  Will have to be when the wife and I can retire in four years.

You'll like Wheatland, Mo.  A realy nice facility that puts on good racing.

I've been to a lot of tracks west of and including Eldora, but I stll gotta get to Port and the Grove

I hope you had a chance to visit Don Garlits' museum in Ocala! .....best drag racing museum in the world, IMHO
