I appreciate them holding the line on big race ticket prices. I just miss a nice stand alone USAC or All Star show for $20 which used to be the bread & butter of my racing season.

Now it's all multi-day lollapalooza filled with camping, boozing, partying, lusting, debauchery & perversion.  Which,... 20 years ago would've been right up my alley. wink

Agree. The recent trend has been for tracks to add more and more nights to every big show. 3-4 nights is a little much for me and I don't really understand the necessity, other than the Nationals of course. Maybe other race fans have more free time and disposable income than me.

I'm 90 miles south of eldora. I used to get goosebumps a month ahead of time before going just to spectate there and later on when I had a car it was even more so.  Nowadays I can take it or leave it, will certainly go to the WoO/USAC races in may but the rest is questionable.

I'd think every track is hoping that their 3-4 night special events will become the next Knoxville Nationals type, must see event.

That is still a cheaper than the Nationals - 180.00 for 4 nights of racing.  The Nationals is over 200.00 for 4 nights of racing.  We rotate years one year we go to the Nationals and the next Doty Classic and Eldora for 4 Nights.

Let's go Sprint Car Racing!

Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

I just wish they would book a FAST show or open 410 show to give guys the opportunity to get laps and learn how to race there than showing up and running against the Woo or HL.

Eldora is very much an outlier in the sport. They can afford to do what they do because they're not a weekly track yet have the status of being one of the 3 most prestigious tracks in the sport. That said, the trend of weekly tracks bloating their schedule is hurting weekly attendance. We've been seeing it in PA. Years ago, there were a lot of people who went to weekly shows and didn't go to sanction shows. Now a lot of those people don't go much at all because there's entirely too many "specials" that aren't special. They just throw together group time trials or tack some memorial to it and charge 20+ bucks to get in to what amounts to a regular show with the regulars in attendance. The reality is, most casual fans don't give a shit about some driver or car owner who's been dead for 20 years. They want an affordable, well run show that they can take the wife and kids to without breaking the bank. They don't give a damn about group time trials or the fact that it's Jim's Hardware night or some tribute/memorial for a person they never saw race and never heard of. They aren't diehards like us. They just want affordable entertainment for an evening and they don't want to be pulling into the driveway at 2:00am after a 4 division marathon.

Wouldn't it be a wonderful thing if the winner after all the specials and High Limit / World of Outlaws, was FAST, other regional series, and local/ regular shows ?
