Was the USA series the most recent sprint car series that tried to break away from domination by WoO?  I think it was but my age/memory foggy and internet has almost zero info on it. .  If it was the USA series, and I remember right, that series actually took 3/4th of the top cars from the WoO.  Donny Schatz with his closeness to Ted Johnson was one of the few teams in the WoO that kept racing  with the WoO if my memory?? is correct.  Whatever series was the most recent to try the breakaway, I was surprised they didn't last because of this fact.  Of course, High Limit has a much much better chance of sticking around for a while, maybe a long while.  Worked well last year and 2024 is a bigger step up the ladder.

No USA was like 1989. NST was the last one to try. Thinking it was 2006. Not sure what to think of this whole High Limit thing.

I think the man that started the group was from Oregon.  He promoted a race track.  He had signed up alot of drivers.  He was accidentilly killed at the race track when hit by a stock car.  They never held a race.  This is how I remembered it.

NST was formed by Fred Brownfield who promoted Grays Harbor. He was upset that World Racing Group ( CEO Paul Kruger ) gave Skagit a World of Outlaw race. The series ran for one year I think it was 2006. He was killed working as an on track official lining up a race at Grays Harbor. Fred is a NSCHF member.

I remember reading Kinser and Brownfield each lost $500,000 for their ill-attempted series.

Actually it was started by Richard Petty. Yes that Richard Petty. I think he backed-out within a month. Thats when it became the NST.

I'm having a hard time seeing how a series that only held something like 38 races could lose one million dollars.
