I just read the article in Speed Sport where Sweet talked about the liklihood of HLSprint and Lucas Oil LM running some joint events.
This whole thing is increasingly sounding like 'Made for Flo' streaming content. There is very little of a crossover audience for the live events of sprints and LM's, so these joint bookings are all about cutting production costs of the broadcasts. And if they expect this fan to pay one more cent to watch some door wedges flying around taking track time away from real race cars, they are seriously misguided.

i used to feel the same way. Then because of Larson I started watching some late model races. Changed my opinoin on the late models.
WoO has the best shows, Port Royal is usually interesting, High Limit, All Stars, then come the late moels in my preference line up. A couple of years ago I would have never believed I would actually watch them.
Sprints and WoO or Lucas late models together.....hell ya

High Limit dropped sprint cars from their official name. Perhaps next up is High Limit late model racing sponsored by Lucas Oil?

Lucas Oil may be dropping late models just like they did tractor pulling and some other motorsports!

Look for one of those double header events to be at Granite City, Il.
No inside info, just a gut feeling

Wheatland MO too.
I think any track that currently has Lucas Oil Late Model Series shows is a good bet there will be High Limit races on their schedule next year.

I grew up watching sprints and late models at many tracks, I still like late models and do pay extra to watch them at the local tracks. I will not pay extra to watch modifieds or legends though, won't go to a track if they're there.

Because it's a possibility that Lucas Oil drops funding for the LM tour, that Flo takes a stake in it, and brings it under the High Limit name, similar to how the WoO has both sprints and LMs under one brand. Just like the expansion into a full time National series by gobbling up the All Stars was likely to happen for the sprint cars, Flo is likely to want a brand they can get behind rather than this hodgepodge of different series names.

I like a good Sprint and Late Model show. None of the tracks in my area run Lucas Oil Late Model specials. They're all World of Outlaws. The $50k to win USA Nationals takes place 32 miles from the end of my driveway. There are more big Late Model races near me that Sprint Car events.

Highly doubt I would attend a Double Header race. Late Models race hard, good passing and some good races but they are just not for me..

Current day DLM's are incredibly hard to look at. Extremely ugly. They used to be pretty sexy in the 80's & 90's but now they have these aero dependent pushed-in bodies, strange body panels, batmobile fender flares, and those weird spaghetti strap A, B & C pillars. The left rear disappears under the car in the corners. I can't get past it, just take it all away.

It's the fans isn't it??
I find the fender purist a little insufferable to listen to at times but realize open wheel has them too. The more I watch late models the more I enjoy them. Probably being more familiar with them helps a lot too. It's not sprints nor will it ever be sprints but I can appreciate their racing.

How do we know what was likely intended? I'm basing my opinions on two known things that they've told us. 1) They dropped sprint car from the name of the endeavor 2) They folllowed right behind with an announcement about late models.

Well one thing for sure is that late models have a bigger following than sprint cars. i can remember at the world finals that the late model people got up and left before the sprint A main. So if iam looking to make a big buck i sure would think about combining a good late model and a good sprint car show...just makes sense$$$$$

Totally agree. Decent racing but the left rear disappearing under the side panel is about the ugliest and wierdest looking thing in racing.

Northeast mods are doing the same set up now. These cars are way too technical now.
