We are witnessing some extrodinary driving recently:
Sammy Swindell, at 68 years yound, jsut won an ASCS Hurricane Sprints event at 68 years old.
Then I read Danny Wood was 2nd in a OCRS race in Caney, KS this past weekend. How old is Danny the 'FLYING FOSSIL' Wood? I have a coupel of his shirts from the WoO days, woudl love to see if he has any these days avaialble, any known details out there?

Danny Smith,Red Farmer,Jeff Swinell ,Ken Schrader are a few others that still draw fans and are competitive but not at the top level. They had an over 50 race at Knoxville but it was usually won by an active racer.I watched them actually help Loyd Beckman in Danny Youngs 360 sprint at Webster City and won easily only to be claimed and had to load up. Kevin Harvick just retired from Nascar at 47 to become a broadcaster. The cars are much safer but any race car has a risk factor. The days of no cage open helmets and a hay rope to hold you in are long gone and I admire the few that can still compete .
