I could be way off here. To check if someone had a sealed crate engine modified could exhaust air flow at a certain RPM show evidence of? Tired of seeing the same cars pull away off the corners after entering on a bad line when they all are suposed to have the same engine.
I tell it like I see it.

What makes you think it is the engine and not the gearing, car setup or driver?

I believe you will find the top teams are buying 6 or 8 crate motors at a time, dynoing and keeping the ones to their liking and selling the rest. We ran a crate in a limited late model against open two barrel motors and had some success, we were down 125 to 150 horsepower but the torque curve was very desireable on a slick track.

Pretty much no matter what is done crate motors or motors built by one builder will vary HP some without a lot of work to fine tune the power outputs. It happens in NASCAR which is why some drivers/cars are faster. Fine tuning the handling of the car comes into play also. More variable on the dirt tracks for handling and fine tuning. Plus the drivers ability to run on the edge . . . . . I have no doubt some organizations buy multiple engines looking for a little more powerful one.

I dunno. I'm inclin to believe that an engine builder would dyno all his engines and market the better performers to racers willing to pay more.

I know a owner tnat never checked spark plugs at all for to rich or lean, he never checked the timing, and if he used 18 gal alcohal on a night he would put all 18 gal in tank for TT, heat and feature.

I have some friends that run sealed crate engines and also know a guy that markets them thru a large performance shop. They provide dyno sheets and there is a difference. There is also a shop that can reseal an engine and tech cant tell so its not a fool proof science.

I see nnowing wrong with knowing the HP of your crate motors you purchase. If you cheat to win that is sad.
Winged 604's might be interesting. In my opinion having good races and a decent car count is what I care about.

Will be interesting to see how it goes. I think they raced a couple trial races last year. Might divide up the non-wing club which has over 40 drivers. Wondering if the non wing club will run somewhere else against wilmot when hey run the winged cars. The 1000cc lightning sprints actually turn faster laps than the winged 604's at wilmont which is interesting, not by much though - they essentially turn almost the same lap times on the tacky tracks but the lightning sprints are a lot quicker in the slick

Wilmont got rid of their promoter after their fair this summer (mid summer or so). Odd move. First thing he (Simons) did was move Wildman Watson race to Plymouth. I was in Plymouth for it. Appeared to be a decent gate. Supposedly Sinclair moved all the 410 IRA gear that was stored at Wilmont out right after Simons was dumped. The promoter also has the contract with the Outlaws. So perhaps Wilmont will not have WoO and IRA 410?
Luxemburg, WI Speedway was looking for a promoter last I heard. I have never been there.
