Advance Auto Parts becomes title sponsor of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Andrew Kunas
ORLANDO - World Racing Group made the announcement sprint car followers had been waiting years for Friday at the PRI Trade Show.
There's a title sponsor for its World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. Advance Auto Parts has signed on to be the title sponsor of the series for the 2008 30th Anniversary season, which beings in February at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida and ends in November at the Outlaw World Finals at Lowe's Motor Speedway in North Carolina.
In addition to the title sponsorship, Advance Auto Parts will also become an associate sponsor for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series while continuing its role as the title sponsor of the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series.
"This is a big day for the World of Outlaws and the sport of dirt track auto racing as Advance Auto Parts is marking a major statement and confirming today what the leaders in our sport have known, that dirt racing is a great place for major brands to invest their advertising dollars," said Ben Geisler, chief marketing officer for World Racing Group.
Two-time defending World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion Donny Schatz, who will drive a car for NASCAR star Tony Stewart in 2008, made a few statements applauding the new sponsorship. Former series champion Danny Lasoski also made a few brief statements.
In addition to the new title sponsorhip, Lernernville Speedway, which is owned by World Racing Group, announced an increase to the winner's share in its traditional Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup race. The event, which paid $30,000 to win in the past, will now pay $40,000. It is the highest paying single day event on the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series circuit.
Geisler also informed a number of people about an increase in the runner-up's share in next year's Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif. Paying on $12,000 to the runner-up last year, the event will reportedly now pay second place $20,000. The Gold Cup will again pay $50,000 to win.
According to the World Racing Group press release, Advance Auto Parts operates more than 3,200 stores across 40 states, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Island.

What happened to their deal with Lincoln Savings and Charles Keating?

Charles Keating, the rip-off king of all times! Haven't heard anything of him for a long time. Is he still in prison, where he belongs, or did he ever even go to prison? I guess that I was one of the more fortunite victims of his scams. I only lost about $100,000 when Western Savings folded, all of which probably went to Lawyers.

That money was long gone before it ever made it to his legal team!
Western Savings was a Driggs family debacle.....what I do not get is why, when their risky investments obviously cost them and their investors millions of dollars, did the good people of AZ elect Adam Driggs to the AZ House of Representatives.
And before you go blaming lawyers for the S&L failures, you need to research Reagan era modifications to our savings and loan institutions and their affect on said.

Give it time, the end of the day has yet to arrive. 30 years and still traveling and racing along despite a couple of ruts along the way.

Will do my shopping at Advance Auto Parts. They are now big in my two favorite motor sports NHRA and sprint cars (wings preferred, but like both).
Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.

Do you really care about their paychecks as long as they are paying the drivers and racing as often (maybe more) as the drivers want?

DIRT/WRG paid Schatz more in one night at the WoO banquet than they paid as salary to any of the DIRT employees all year. Stocks are another thing - the more the officers increase the worth of the company - the more they stand to earn - is that a bad thing?

LOL LOL LOL The more they increased the value of the company???? Thanks for the biggest laugh i have had in years. The company's stock has lost 95% of it's value from the IPO in Aug 2003 to this past week. Not a single financial advisor is reconmending the stock it is a strong sell across the board. This past year alone the stock value dropped 82% of it's value to $0.45 a share. 2007 was the best year so far for WRC and they still lost millions in the first three quarters and that is not taking in account the 4th quarter operating losses. Shall i quote their own SEC filing.
"Since inception in 2003, we have incurred substantial operating losses from continuing operations and used substantial cash in our operations. These operating losses have been funded principally through the sale of equity securities, including preferred stock. These issuances have complicated our capital structure, and have served as an impediment to engaging in corporate transactions deemed beneficial to our stockholders."
Now they are talking about recapitalization and reverse stock splits. Both are things that a company in any type of decent financial shape would never consider. The board room is looking like a chinese fire drill with people being forced out, reassigned or leaving on their own. This puppy is in deep trouble.
If you do not have trouble sleeping after reading a horror novel may i suggest this bit of reading. Very frightening indeed.

Who is that supposed to be scary to? The guys getting paid after every night they race? The ones collecting the championship point money? Everyone that enjoys the shows they put on all over the country.
Some people crack me up. Pissed and moaned about how TJ was destoying the WOO and now how the WRG is doing the same. Yet the races keep happening and people keep getting paid.
While I will agree they don't do everything right, T-Shirt sales for example, I have yet to see only one person offer serious competitive alternative.
Maybe all you folks that can not stand them should send a letter to Advance Auto Parts and tell them they are wasting their money.
