2007 Golden State Challenge Series schedule announced

December 20, 2006... John Padjen Motorsports has released the 2007 Golden State Challenge King of California Series schedule. The 2007 schedule shows 27 races at 10 different tracks for the West Coast’s premier traveling 410 winged sprintcar series. The season will run its traditional route starting in early March and ending in late July giving competitors the opportunity shall they choose, too travel back and run the Knoxville Nationals in Iowa.

Hosting the most races and holding the designation as "home track" for 2007 will be the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. The high banked 1/4 mile will see six night’s of action for the Golden State Challenge Series in 2007 and will kick off the season with the prestigious two night Mini Gold Cup on March 9 & 10. GSC will be back on May 12 for the biggest single night of the season when they compete in the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial. The series will also compete at Silver Dollar on July 14 before ending the GSC season with a two day event on July 27 & 28.

Quickly becoming one of the most popular tracks on the West Coast is Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway which will see four visits by the Golden State Challenge Series in 2007. GSC will take to the wide and ultra quick 1/3 mile on March 31, April 28, May 19 & June 30. The May 19 date is designated as the Chris Faria Memorial.

Making its presence known and hosting the most Golden State Challenge races in track history will be the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville. This coming season will see GSC invade the much improved 1/4 mile bullring on four occasions. The dates will be April 14, May 5, June 1 & July 20. Note that the June 1 and July 20 events are on Friday’s. If you weren’t able to attend the new Ocean Speedway last year, be sure to make a point of it this coming season. Promoter John Prentice has revived the track and made it one of the nicest track/facility combos in the state.

Returning to the schedule in 2007 following a years absence will be the Kings Speedway in Hanford. Near of the end of last year Frank Dias and Scott Woodhouse took over operation of the Kings County Fairground track and will have a full season on tap for ‘07. The GSC 410 sprints will take to the 3/8 mile for a two day event on March 16 & 17 and will be back on July 21 for a single night of action.

The historic Calistoga Speedway in the Napa Valley will hold its traditional Memorial Day weekend double header on May 26 & 27. The weekend pays tribute to California legends Walter T Ross and Gary Patterson on the scenic ½ mile where speeds reach 130 mph.

The high banked red clay 1/4 mile bullring of Placerville Speedway will feature two Golden State Challenge Series dates in 2007. The dates will be March 24 & June 2.

The hooked up and tacky 3/8 mile Petaluma Speedway will see a pair of visits by the Golden State Challenge Series for the second year in a row. The dates will be April 21 & June 9.

The tight 1/4 mile bullring of Antioch Speedway will also be hosting two GSC events in 2007. GSC will appear in Antioch on April 7 & July 7.

Hosting a single night of action for the fifth consecutive year will be the Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, Or. The 1/3 mile track has become a welcome stop on the way up to Skagit Speedway’s Dirt Cup. The date for this year’s event will be Monday night June 11.

The Golden State Challenge Series will make its first ever visit to the American Valley Speedway in Quincy on June 23. It should be a fun night at a track that has gained many fans within the last few years.

All in all it looks like a good season upcoming and we hope to see everybody in 2007.

Hopefully some of the WoO will be at he Mini Gold Cup since its an open date on their schedule and they are in AZ the week before.

We can only hope they don't schedule another race on that weekend. But I would love to see some WoO drivers at the Mini Gold Cup!
