I'd hire Steve Inch from Selinsgrove. He's exceptional and will probably always be my favorite. Dave Hare would be a close 2nd.

If you owned a track and could hire any of these announcers who would be you pick and why?
a. Chet Christner of USAC
b. Blake Anderson of ASCoC
c. Bryan Hulburt of ASCS
d. Johnny Gibson of WoO
|
I think at times we can be to critical of some announcers. It seems easy till we try it. Same thing with the national anthem.

The two best in Pa no gimmicks or stupid cliches and easy to listen to. I'm so sick of gimmicky calls to start a race.

Coincidentally, this thread is also not about being a jerk to people on the internet, but there you are, again.

Announcer of choice? Ear plugs and sitting in a section that isn't right under a PA speaker.

If I absolutely HAD to choose from these 4, it would be Blake Anderson. But I would hire Ray Underwood, voice of the IRA, before anyone else.

Couldn't agree more. They're absolutely the best in PA and 2 of the best there is anywhere.

After listening on Flo to the first half-hour of the Lakeside High Limit race...I wish we could hear more from Vince Welch.Such a smooth voice. And the really good news is I haven't heard a single hair-raising scream from either one, like we are subjected to every Friday and Sat night on a certain touring 410 sprint car series not named All Stars or USAC!

Vince Welch sounds like he spent about as much time prepping for this race as I did doing homework in high school. Schatz is from Fargo North Carolina? Bill Balog from North Pole Arkansas?

I'm watching the WoO and extreme Midgets with the TV sound muted and a Gibson SG on my knee. I'd rather multi task than listen to announcers. They're good at what the do but most were hired to rile up a live crowd and don't come across well on TV.

My choice would be A. Chet Christner.
If I owned a racetrack we'd likely be doing a bunch of hillbilly shit. I just can't envision Blake nor Johnny calling a lawnmower race.... And Chet seems like he might have about a dozen lawnmower racing jokes in the archive ready to go at any given moment.

Dont know the names but both announcers from Port Royal get my vote. Cant just ask for four...
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...
