It's January. It's cold, and we're up to our asses in snow this year. So I'm sitting' here thinking about the upcoming racing season. When Husets Speedway opens their doors this year, it will be the 40th year that I've gone to races there. It will be my 51st year of going to the races. What's your record look like?

First race Langhorne in 71 not sure it counts since I was 1 year old but I was there. Like most I owe it all to my dad Indy 5 times in the 70s saw a lot for a little kid. Being from central Pa been to all the tracks including the closed ones Silver Spring Penn National Reading and Trailways. Also Trenton and Nazareth dirt and asphalt mile, Flemington NJ saw Lee Osborne win his only woo race at Paragon Ind Syracuse for super dirt week in the 70s 80s also Oswego NY couple times which I recommend. Favorite is Lincoln Pa and Hagerstown. Thanks for the memories Dad.

My parents took me to my first race in :'67 when when I was just a baby and it never stopped from there. Ascot is where I saw most of my races by a wide margin, followed by Perris Auto Speedway. Both are great tracks and ones that hold great memories for me. We also traveled to Phoenix every year for several years to see the Copper Classic at PIR and the CRA at Manzanita. My dad and I would often travel to Tulare or Kings Speedway (now Keller) in Hanford and sometimes Bakersfield. Ventura was also a regular stop when the SCRA raced there. In 1999 or 2000 we followed the SCRA midwest tour and I saw new tracks like Terre Haute, Lakeside, Knoxville and Eagle. Lately, most of my races have been at Willamette Speedway, Grays Harbor and Sunset Speedway here in the Pacific Northwest. My current favorite track is Cedar Lake in Wisconsin. My bucket list includes I-55, Husets, Jackson, Skagit, Silver Dollar and a number of Pennsylvania tracks including Williams Grove. Along the way I've seen a ton of races at a lot of different tracks over my lifetime and thank God that my dad instilled this love of sprint car racing in my life.

My first race was in 1960 at the Twin City Speedway in Blaine, Minnesota. Twin City is the same track that was later renamed North Starr and operated through the 1979 season. They ran a couple World of Outlaws shows before closing. I never kept track of total races but have been to 40 tracks at last count. In recent years I have watched more from home as travel became less frequent. I'm retired and can afford to travel to races but do have some health issues and don't have anyone to share driving and expenses with. It makes sense now to bite the bullet and watch from home.
