Before the 2022 season I thought car counts would be down. We were coming out of covid, diesel was $5.25 or more a gal. in this area, tires were about $320, alcohal price went up, new tires were scarce. I think the car counts might have been up at many tracks. Fan counts seemed to be very good. Tracks paid out alot of money. I guess if you want to race, you will find a way to race. Things were much worse during the great depression from 1929-1939 and they found a way to race.

Like my pops used to say, "people just love racing don't they?"

According to the great Bill V and his sprintcarratings.com site, 410 winged purse money in 2022 has already surpassed 2021 and that's with Bridgeport and World Finals still to come. That's notable because 2021 had 2 Kings Royals.

Good post. Along those lines, has anybody seen anything on if the tire shortage/situation will improve in 2023?
I read last night that the XR late model series has cancelled some early season races in Las Vegas in 2023. One of the reasons cited was tire shortage.

A more accurate reason would have been "fan shortage" as it relates to XR dirt late models.
