Silver Crown cars always have random issues Like that. I assume it's because they are basically dinosaurs and parts are hard to come by.

That and only running a few times a year tends to limit maintenance and running miles tends to put some stress on the equipment.

It's probably tough to find a place to test/shake down a champ car, but lack of routine maintenance is not a good excuse when you race a very limited schedule. Contrary to popular beliefs, the cars are not dinosaurs most parts are easily found with the exception of those monster fuel tanks. Saturday's race was quite enjoyable.

Silver Crown teams don't carry spare engines? Not being a smart ass, just curious. That's a long way for Macri to travel for nothing.

Tailgated in turn 3 during hot laps and quals.  Watching them come flying down the straights and then hook it sideways in the turns,

Went up in the stands for better view of the race.

Fantastic day, great racing.  If you want Americana, throwback racing, the Silver Crown series on the miles is it

Many of them do not. Most are fairly low-dollar operations.

I didn't know about any of this... pretty cool that Macri tried something different, & an honor that he was offered the ride. Also didn't know about Gravel's run from 26th to 2nd on his first Silver Crown race... https://www.floracing.com/articles/8138535-anthony-macri-to-make-usac-silver-crown-debut-saturday

Not a bad season for him! I think he fueled the car with rocket fuel Smile
