Last week I was able to visit a new track in MO, east of KC. Sweet Springs is a tight little 1/5 mile track that usually races mini sprints and I'm sure other classes.
I don't get to see midgets often, let alone USAC in general, so it was quite the treat and it did not disappoint. I didn't mind that the grandstands felt like they could collapse, and honestly it added to the appeal. Sitting so close to the track is a thrill at many of these small tracks.
I believe Brady Bacon was promoting this race, and hopefully he made money and will continue this race next year. I wish we could see more midgets and USAC shows in Iowa. What would be the best track to host a midget race? Boone?

The racing looked pretty good on Flo, looked like 3,4, and maybe even 5 wide sometimes. I hope to head out to IL., and MO, again sometimes, had fun in IL., but didn't get to see a race in MO. I don't mind sketchy bleachers and little dive tracks, I actually prefer them.

Looked like great racing for sure. I agree, Bleachers, Concessions and Bathrooms don't put on great races, that race was A+++++

Sweet Springs is a great track for midgets. I've attended every USAC midget race and all, but one of the POWRi midget races that have been held at the track. They even ran a full POWRi WAR show earlier this year, which was quite a thrill.
They also have the best cheeseburger that I've tasted at any race track. Fresh ground beef that's hand pattied. They're damn good.

Small detail, but Sweet Springs is a Micro sprint track not mini sprints. (and yes, there is a difference) Micros have 600CC inch motors in them and mini's have larger motors in them.
Sweet Springs has hosted both USAC and POWRi midgets at thier location and have put on great shows. It also will have a couple of big money micro races through out the year that are definitely worth attending.
It has been a couple of years since they have scheduled a show, but US36 has had the best midget shows in the KC area. They were absolutely unreal how they got around that track.
Not familiar with Iowa tracks except for Knoxville, but once the track gets over 1/4 mile the car count starts to drop. After Belleville (KS) stopped with the High Bank Nationals, I don't think anyone races on a 1/2 mile track. It can even be difficult to get cars to a 3/8 mile.

JonR, Thanks for the info on the classiciations. What sizes are minis and midgets?
I forgot to mention that this show had a ton of kids, and young adults, including in the midget ranks. I tried to get a picture with Taylor :D, but got to her hauler too late.

Dang man, you're making this sound like a bucket list track for me. Thanks.

I always wanted to see racing there...luv those bullrings!
A few years ago when I migrated from Denver to the East Coast & back every summer, I'd stop in that town to check out the guy who sells old cars right off I-70, He always has something cool, but I never had the $$ to buy anything

I should mention that my friend got the double burger and said it was pretty good. I got the friend tenderloin and it was good as well.
The lighting is decent, however my really only complain was the PA which I could rarely hear.

Sorry..... the shop is no longer there. I would drive by it to get to the track and would always look at what he had. It is now an empty building.

Thats a shame. The old guy who owned it had an artificial larynx, could have been the "Big C"... RIP?
I wonder who got the cars?
He had a chopped Shoebox Ford , 49 or 50, with a 302, that I always wanted... oh well
