Where is the mute button on my remote? These two can really drive you nuts as it seems 90% of the things they talk about together is what their buddies drink, tweeted, or otherwise did or didn't do. 10%, maybe, is about the actual racing taking place. This isn't some 3,000 to win race somewhere.. this is a big race for 410 racing. Thankful to be able to watch this race, but the yuck yuck show is a little too much tonight.

Blake mentioned a few weeks ago that his announcing mentor taught him basically not to shut up, always keep talking. There might be something to that, but the utter nonsense you need to talk about to keep from taking a breath every now and then is just too much. And Blake with Earl is just another stratosphere in terms of hot air.

I have watched every All Star race they way over exaggerate the racing. Theres a battle for the lead!!!!! the 2nd place car is 10 car lengths behind.

They're both terrible. And I also used to defend Johnny Gibson but now I'm getting tired of him too. Not everything has to be a catch phrase Johnny. Just call the fucking race and stop forcing in a bunch of nonsense.

In fairness, we hear these guys far more than we used to so all the catch phrases and small talk we'd hear a few times a year at the track we now hear 50-100 times a year on streaming. My only wish for Blake is that he realize when he's with Earl, the buffoon level is already high, no need to amp it up.

He does know what he's talking about but I find him the most annoying. It's that voice mostly plus the over exaggeration.

In defense of racing announcer most date back to before streaming. They were hired to whip up crowds at live dirt track races but that over the top style doesn't always fit well with television. To me it comes across like pro wrestling when they get too crazy. Wrestling style hype isn't my thing but I suppose some like it.

By FAR.......Earl Hoon Jr., is the ABSOLUTE WORST! I am 67 years old and he is by far the WORST I've EVER HEARD. Who cares about his uncle, parents, infield drunks, Penn State beating Ohio University, "It's time to light the fires and kick the tires"......WTF? I love Blake Anderson, but Blake, you have got to get away from Earl.

Mush mouth spends way too much time talking and he mumbles most of the time. They need a new announcer at the Port.

They don't bother me. I thought they both did a decent job and sounded like they were having fun. Seems like everyone has to hate on whoever Port's announcer is. Before Hoon, everyone hated Brouse who also wasn't that bad. I don't know, if you're all bothered so much by the announcing, I guess you can just hit mute. Seems like 1 of the most trivial things some one could bitch about honestly.

I don't care if they played golf , who is following on Twitter , where Earl's relatives are sitting , etc. If the announcers have something vital to say about the racing event , say it. Bullshit is that , bullshit. We can do that on our own . Play some reasonable music at a reasonable sound level and I think everyone would be fine. All I need to hear is the starting lineup ( I wonder why they can't put that up on the scoreboard ?) and the format , and I'm pretty much ok.
Ps. there is no mute button at the track.

Announcing is a tough gig and yes, having all the races on PPV in my living room gives me( us) the chance to be more critical as I hear the same guys announcing over and over. But....Blake has gotten more "screamy".....is that a word?....over the past couple years. Used to be my favorite but that goes to Wayne Harper now as he simply tells you what is going on without the pre-canned bullshit. We had Tony at Cedar Lake this weekend and he was good, never even once crackled the speakers with the "YELLOW YELLOW YELLOW". Don't get me started on Chet.

I can't count how many times I've wanted to scream at a race or other sporting event "It's a microphone. You don't have to scream".
We're pretty lucky in our area. Shawn Niestad at Husets is awesome. Listeen to a WoO race sometime from Husets. Shawn and Johnny trade back the mic time during the race and it's flawless. I think it even seems to mellow Johnny a little.

Wayne Harper? I sometimes think he's taking a nap inbetween the times when he actually says anything. Talk about radio silence. lol

Shawn is fantastic, knows the sport and explains things very well. Plus he has a great tone and voice that makes him very understandable without screaming.
Shawn with Johnny is also excellent, because like you said, it seems to mellow Johnny just a tad. They also seem to have a working chemistry between themselves and the conversation just flows as it should.

Blake's screaming into the microphone comes off very bad on the television to me. He has very good knowledge of the sport, and I couldn't do any better, but the little spew he does before the feature is over the top on most nights.
