Racing at the Grove the night before was much better.

But no one has mentioned the once again perfect track prep at Port.  You know, the surface that provides the best 2 finishes of the weekend anywhere in the UMP modified class.

Saturday was good but nothing to write home about. I think we can all agree that Lincoln usually provides good to great racing. I also think that other than 2 (possibly 1) person(s) on this board, we can all agree that Port usally provides good to great racing. What I'm wondering is when the Fabulous is going to step up to the plate and start paying like a top Saturday night 410 track should. $7300 is only $1300 more than a regular all-star purse. Non 410 tracks Bridgeport ($12,000) and Bedford paid better on Thursday and Sunday nights with less cars and less fans. That's just embarassing! Tracks in NY last week paid more. The all-stars have raced 3 times so far at Port Royal for 10G, 10G and 29G. They have 3 more coming up next week - 8G, 10G and 55G! Lincoln's big all-star race the following week pays 20G. C'mon Lincoln, loosen up the purse strings. You have a good fan base and draw the most cars. The teams deserve more!

Easy to watch. Every race 1 and 2 starters finished 1 and 2 except the 2 races Kendall was in and those 2 were also front row winners. Great "racing" indeed

Wasn't that way at Bedford, Grove or Bridgeport guess they didn't time trial.

i don't see how the lap times matter aside from fall off on longer races related to tire wear.  that's generally a good thing because it shows who can manage their tires.  i've never been to a great race - and most of them are great at port like their modified feature saturday night - and looked back at lap times to decide whether i should still call it a great race.

But yet you will be there 4 or 5 times in eight days starting this Sat. I am not sure which dumb and which is dumber. Going and complaining or not going and complaining.

the biggest question for wingedspeed/strawser...

what do you think about the dinners from the lutheran church during fair week?

you're a real hater if you can find a problem there.

I could go for a turkey dinner right about now. Loaded up with pepper.

Fair week is one of the greatest weeks in all of sprint car racing. The atmosphere surrounding the place is like no other. It could easily match the week in Iowa but the woo and the Marion County fair board make sure that doesn't happen. It's not a bad thing in my eyes, gives the locals a real shoot at coming away with some big money. Between the speed palace's fair week and the grove's nationals it gives the posse the opportunity to shine.

As long as the WOO keeps their western swing the same week as fair week it will be continue to be a great great week. If the WOO ever gets involved it will be ruined. It is a county fair and there are as many people there Tuscarora Fifty weekend as they can handle. Nothing could add to it. They manage to keep the All Stars from interfearing too much. The WOO would be sure to think they can improve it by turning everything upside down.

Definately the biggest in PA, not even close, getting bigger every year.   Grove Open distant second, unless you think this is 2002 and not 2022.

Been going to both events since the mid 80's. Although the fair atmosphere is great, and the Tuscarora 50 has grown in statue over the last few years, there is only one Williams Grove National Open. Probably the third greatest sprint car race in the country behind The Knoxville Nationals & Kings Royal.

Agreed. The 50 feels like an event while the Grove Open feels like another outlaw show. The National Open does pay more. 75G to 55G

Usually if they are still turning fast lap times in the feature, that means it's slot cars around a wet heavy cushion that's only half way up the track (most 410 races at Selinsgrove). I'd rather save my money.

Yea, Tusky 50 seems to be a bigger deal now... I like it! Smile

It could be the greatest race of the  year ! The guy with the 2 screen names would find something wrong with it. When that track has a wide racing surface it takes more than a hammer down driver to get to the front.  It takes a driver that understands how to control wheel speed, a crewchief that knows do I need to take power out of the motor, or what tire and stagger do I need and how do I prep those tires.  I hope the outlaws never sanction the tusky. The woo format sucks.
