Anyone know where to find the format for tonite's race at Eldora?
I had it before, but can't find it now.....I think they have a full invert on heats, started me wondering what incentive there would be to qualify well. I must be missing something!
Clue me in...

In years past the Eldora format encouraged sandbagging but the wheel of misfortune whereby you don't know what the invert will be until after qualifying discourages it.

I saw a post with the formats for each race this week at Eldora so I may have them mixed up but I believe that 18 cars advance from heats and the fastest 2 time trials that do not earn their way they the heats get P19 and P20. 4 from the B main take the tail.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

One flight of time trials. All cars time against each other
Fast timer spun a wheel to determine the invert.
5 was the invert.
Top 5 inverted into the 6 heat races. Fast times started 5th.
The 6 heat winners start in positions 6 -> 1
The second place finishers start 7-12
The third place finishers start 13-18
The top 2 time trials who didn't qualify start 19 & 20
Top 4 from B-Main start 21-24

I enjoy a format that is not like the WOO every week. WOO dash draw is a bore, they could do same thing in pits and not interview drivers. Notice the non WOO drivers did very well at the BIG ONE.Husets also had a different format then WOO. Liked it also.

I really like the format tonight. Not s fan of the regular outlaw format. Starting the fastest TT on the pole for the heats never made sense to me.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Agreed. The dash draw is something I could do without and usually ignore. It's overhyped and then each driver gets asked the same boring questions from a pit reporter...

I liked the format I hope they use the same for the kings royal but I doubt it being it is a points paying race. You had Sye Lynch on the pole and a big group of angry woo regulars that on any other stop would not have had to deal with getting around some cars. These guys put on a good show, the woo and there platinum format suck.

Saturday is show up points only, as usual. Tonight is WoO format and full points. Saturday is similar format to last night except there is no wheel, the invert is 4 taking 3 out of 6 heats, 19 and 20 start quick timers who dont transfer from heats.... Heat 6 winner starts pole of Royal

The wheel gimmick makes it fun and prevents sandbagging. People who bag on Eldora for it not being as good as it used to be are wrong. I watched the 1999 Kings Royal where Sammy lapped up to 6th place and it was a total snoozer.
Last night was amazing racing from start to finish.

I like these formats that put the platinum boys back a bit. There was a lot of passing and some of that was because fast cars were buried in the field.
I think the fastest 2 non qualifiers filling spots 19 and 20 is a real good incentive to not sandbag.

care what most of you think!
