I run into same problem with my phone date issues at big events.  If I hit a race or concert with so many people on there phones it seems to drag down the cell tower output.

The high speed is out on the track in a lot of rural areas.  Come out further west and that is common.

I think a lot of it is the number of users. I have a vendor spot at the Juniata County Fair. A couple of years ago I was having trouble processing Credit Cards the day of the Tuscarora Fifty. I discovered later that my hot spot had gotten unlocked and other people's phones were finding it. I also wonder sometimes with the tracks if it is intenional to keep people from doing free update to people not attending.

I have seen tracks in the upper Midwest where both services were a problem.  Seems that lthe further they are from cities and freeways the worse it is.  Small town America, there are trade offs for being out in the wide open spaces.  Race tracks, northern Minnesota close to Canada where we fished and hunted.  Not much in some of those places and there are dead cell phone areas and only about 9 Mbps internet over where we had the lake place in Wisconsin.  Probably don't have that problem in more populated areas.

Well it sounds like the booming metropolis of Attica Ohio has limited cell reception just like the lake in Wisconsin from the sounds of it so maybe Attica isnt so booming!

Many tracks are in the middle of nowhere and away from big population centers which is good because if they were closer to civilization some asshat would complain about noise and try to shut them down.

Raceway 7 has a cell tower in the parking lot.  I was there 2 or 3 years ago and had zero signal.

The point is to get people to either go in person or use the paid steamong services rather than freebies.

I had no cell issues last night at the Attica track.  Cricket which uses ATT towers.

My mistake.  I didn't realize you were referring to the sprawling metropolis of Attica, Ohio, population 840 in 2020.  I will refrain from using familiar areas with sketchy service to illustrate my point in the future.

It's all about the bandwidth. They have to put in their own little network to serve many people at the same time. First time I went to Phoenix I had no service to speak of. After the remodel it is excellent.

Agree with this.  Two words - "System Overload".

Knoxville brought in portable cell towers in the past, but I do not know if they still do.

Not that long ago our cell service at Knoxville would get so bad by the end of the week you couldn't even send a text. But they've upgraded quite a bit in the last few years. It's pretty good all week now.
