What are the awards for the contingency winner and how do they determine the winner?
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

If you are talking about All Stars, there's one for Hard Charger, one for Quick Time, One for the first non-transfer (hard luck award I think) and one Perseverance that's more subjective for someone who overcame misfortune during the night. They get cash or gift certificates from the differnt companies that sponsor each award. Each heat is also sponsored by a different company and the heat winners receive cash/product/product credit also.
Ross chimes in here sometimes and could probably tell you exactly, but that's it in a nutshell, for the All Stars at least.

When it comes to contingency awards, there is no limit to the way that it works. ArmyDuke has the basics covered, but like I said there is no limit to the way it works. Some are straight forward, Quick time, hard charger, Heat Race winner. Others are more interesting. I have seen the following awards:
First driver not to qualify for the main event (25th qualifier).
Driver that finished in X position. Where X could be related to a favorite car number or business name, etc.
Longest Tow,
Upside down fund, (driver that rolls over)
Hard luck award (subjective award wreck/blown motor)
Mr. Excitement. (Somewhat like hard charger, but usually reserved for the guy pounding the cushion when it did not exist, or a driver that is in a bunch of wrecks)
Best in class award. When running in a region with limited 410s, the highest placing 360 wins the award. Can be used for spec engines and other items.
Also, as ArmyDuke said most are in cash, but some are in product discounts. When it is a product that everyone uses, those discounts are just as good. 20% off a race fuel, buy one tire get one free, etc. However, I have seen more selective contingency awards. $400 off a new Brand X roller. If you don't need a new roller or don't like Brand X, it is a useless award.
Finally, many contingency awards require you to run a contingency decal. The winner of heat 2 receives $100 credit to Company X as long as the winner has a Company X sticker on the car.

Thank you for all of that. It is helpful etc.
The award I was specifically asking about was the contingency award called the "continguency award". Tonight with the allstars Brandon Matus has his picture taken with a sign board with the words "contingency award winner". Sponsored by the Raycerudeen foundation. I see on twitter the other awards like hard charger and heat winners. Most have names that are descriptive of the award but I've never known what this one is for. The tweets never say what for, but every event has a winner.

That is the "hard luck" award for being the first car to not transfer to the A Main (5th in B Main), not sure what he receives from the Race Rudeen Foundation for that Contingency Award.

The Outlaws used to list out contingency awards and even 10 years ago it was around $1k per race. Certain of them revolved around 1st car using ....shock, wing, engine etc.... Some were strictly performance related with no requirement for using certain equipment.
