I wonder if there were more on the prelinary night. 138 stands out to me but 120, 138, still over 100 and similar to this weeks Late Model numbers. The older I get the more I like 24-35 good quality cars. Three Heats, a dash, B Main and Feature and home before midnight.

Yes, it was 138 to start the premlim night. 120 were scheduled for the Mains on final night, of which 118 started (Hockett was one scratch I think). was a great couple nights for sure.

Thanks, we had a stats man with our 2003 Million group. Greg, aka GRP Motorsports who's sponsorship at Jackson, Husets, and Knoxville May ring a bell with some Midwesterner's. He is an accurate stats man almost to a fault and was the one who kept track for us.

Yes, I still have my program and notes from the weekend and looked, your numbers and memory were spot on my man Stan.
Will never forget the many USAC fans there who were not happy with Jac and Stevie Smith putting the ass whoopin on the Wingless regulars...lol

VOTS might be able to remember better than I, but I think we had 118 sprints several years ago for Racesaver Nationals at Eagle. WIth the way the format works everyone has chances to qualify for the Big Dance each day so on Friday night all 118 raced at least twice. The top 9 in Friday's feature locked into the Big Dance so they wouldn't have to race on Saturday. That along with attrition meant that there were probably around 100-105 cars race on Saturday, and probably in the upper 80-90s on Sunday. Eagle's pits can hold around 200 haulers although that's getting pretty tight.

Good point. Another track that hosts a ton of cars is Boone, IA, and their annual IMCA Super Nationals. I have never attended that orgy of stock cars and mortifieds so I can't speak for grandstand space. There are a lot of tracks that could handle the haulers but other things like grandstand, lodging and streaming connection would come into play. Obviously the big Sprint Car venues mentioned at the outset are the most logical choices. Now comes the fun part, finding the money to make this fantasy happen.

Port Royal and Charlotte can both hold over 120 cars in the pits.

I said handle over 120. I know there are tracks that can hold that many in the country. But handling them is another story.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!
