I respect HH's decision to not ban individuals, free speech & all that jazz....

But how about deleting comments that turn almost EVERY thread into a bitching session about Port Royal???

Everybody has a right to their own opinion, its the constant whining & hijacking that bugs so many of us!

I like Port fine, about the same as Williams Grove, big 1/2 mile. I prefer the smaller tracks.... but I don't obsess about it & try to force my opinions on the whole HH crowd....

Port is on my bucketlist as well, seemingly 1 person has an issue with it,  which makes me want to go even more.

Hope to get to Selinsgrove next week, while passing thru PA

Good point, I suppose. But most of us are under the impression that all 3 of you are the same person. So, there's that.

I like Lincoln too

But the vast majority of people here already know what you think about Port & are tired of hearing it..... whats so hard to understand about that?

Why don't you give it a rest?

Or another idea....how about HH gives you YOUR OWN PERSONAL THREAD, if you promise to STAY OFF everything else?????

You don't think annoying damn near every person on this Forum is wrong????

Oh wait.... "Winged Speed" agrees with everything you say..... maybe you 2 (???) should start your own anti-Port website???

Its not too far for me & its a 5 hr. drive!

Why don't you encourage people to go & decide for themselves?

Now, boring tracks? Lebanon Valley & Orange County Fairgrounds are ony 2 hrs. away from me, & thats too far.... but i don't bitch about it constantly on HH!

No, you have done nothing wrong, you have the freedom of speech, but like some, you over use that freedom.

I think what our friend is asking, is that you respect other peoples opinion, as you think they should respect your, just saying

Mr. Strauser,

As you can see, I don't post very often.

(1) your opinions are just that , opinions.

(2) you probably know what they say about opinions.

(3) If you didn't repeat yourself on every thread, you would probably have less than 500 posts instead of over 1500

Have a nice day.

This response is to  ALL Hosehead users, not just the OP. And it's not a complete expository on the subject. I suppose after 40 years in the business I could go on for hours. So let's just focus on the topic at hand.

And this post has been coming for a while now.

There have actually been plenty of posts, responses and threads that have been deleted or closed along the way. And there are certainly more that should have come down over the course of time.

But at the same time, I know what you're saying.

Some of the repetitive posts can get old.

PART 1:

I suggest just skipping right over the responses that don't interest you (or others).  I know it can be hard sometimes...and it really is a complete waste of time, as it's not getting anything accomplished.

I think it's great that there are a lot of people on this forum that stand up for their local track of choice and continue to support it.

My guess is most people support way more than one track throughout the season.

PART 2:

However my ultimate suggestion to those that present to others that they have the knowledge to improve racing conditions or whatever from one track to another is to put that knowledge into action.

Go help out at a track that needs it.

Approach your boss that probably currently sponsors 155 different types of stick-and-ball sports to pony up some $ for your local track and in turn help drive fans/teams back to your business...and prove to them auto racing advertising/marketing works.

Heck, you can probably work out a deal with the track that if you bring them a few hundred $ sponsor, they'll give you a few free tickets for the hook-up.

Then you really will be making a positive difference in the sport.

It's a lot more productive use of time to do something impactful like that then it is sitting around talking about it.

A year or so ago I put up a post with step-by-step instructions on how you (all the users on hoseheads) to get a business a foot in the door to being a part of racetrack promotions.

I did that thinking that maybe all people needed (that had no experience in making race track promotions for your business a reality) was a road map.

There are over 34,000 people that have user names on Hoseheads.

Yet not 1 person responded to the post, PM'd me or anything. Maybe some of you did take action. If so, kudo's for doing your part.

So it kind of comes off that all of this 'armchair quarterback' conversation on the forum is being misdirected, as in most cases you're not connecting to the person that can affect change (in this case, the race track itself).

If you want something better for the sport, if you want something better for the track(s) in your area, do something about it.

Quibbling about someone's constant rambling isn't getting the sport any help at all.

And this sport desperately needs help. If you think just buying a ticket is 'doing your part', then that's why things are waning in several areas of the country. The sport requires more than that from the people that say they love the sport.

I double dare some of you to go out and affect change: Put some of that energy into something that has a positive effect on the sport.

Then come back to hoseheads and write a post about how your track promo went, how you did it, how much fun you had - and how it resulted in the track pulling in more drivers, more fans and helped keep the sport moving forward.

I think you'll find it much more rewarding than name-calling others on the sprint car forum or reading someone elses repetitive posts that go nowhere.

Good luck and I hope some of you take the challenge!

Or you could put a ignore feature so we could just ignore a certain poster or two who hijack every thread?  Just a thought.

MandGRacing96 - for quite some time there has been talk of updating this message board platform...and that is one of the most asked for requests that people send me.

I pass those requests up the flagpole.  Smile

Please do not institute an ignore button.   It will just open the door to a group of HH posters becoming the judge and jury of what is said on this board.  I  was on a Racing-forum/Nascar board and that is what that message board is, an echo chamber.   That board has an ignore feature but that wasn't good enough for the posters who thought they ran the board.  Especially when a certain person posted they would berate what he said because it didn't go along with the group think about Nascar.  So they ran them of the board and when they left everyone cheered.  I  left because I  believe  in having meaningful discussions with all opinions.

Again,  Please don't open that door.  Plus we already have a built in ignore button.  It is called just scroll past any poster who hijacks a thread.  Respond to what the thread is about, don't respond with saying "don't respond to this person".  We are not children.   Can we not police ourselves?

Plus anyone of our opinions are just that opinions,  not always a fact.  If we all liked and believed  the same thing

Baskin Robbins wouldn't have 31 flavors.

We all have that capability to ignore any poster already.

And I do.  I dont open any thread that person starts.  But when every thread about certain subjects is hijacked by this person it gets old.  I wouldnt have to see him at all if I could just click ignore said user.  Just my opinion tho

You have to understand that people like him with low self-esteem issues love it when they can get the kind of recognition he/they can get by being a butthead on the internet. If you don't believe me, look anywhere on the internet. It's overrun with buttheads seeking attention. He's only doing it to get your attention, and it's working. He doesn't go to the races, but he can be a jerk on an internet racing website. Case in point- he'll come back with some crass reply to this post. He can't help it.

This could all end if you would just exercise a little self restraint & JUST STOP!

We all know what you think.... you act like you're on some kind of Crusade

What makes you think we "can't handle the truth"??

None of us have any vested interests in Port Royal. If we thought the track prep sucked we would say so...

With Freedom (Of speech) comes RESPONSIBILTY..... just stop being a brat & consider everybody else on HH

OK??????

And I'll say it again - you have single-handedly ruined this forum. "the truth hurts don't it"
