It really gets old watching the same 2 or 3 drivers undeservingly win at port royal. Their cars aren't great, they just have no regard for themselves or equipment. It doesn't take a good car or driver to run on the wall, just balls and luck. That is not racing. When they have to run down off the wall they are average at best. Look at saturday night, macri couldn't run the wall in his heat, couldn't advance and threw a ballbaby fit. They need to grade turns 1 and 2 down off of the wall so you need a good setup to run on the cushion, through the middle or around the bottom (like every other racetrack), not the wall. Me personally, I'm about to quit patronizing this speedway and I think that is why they aren't getting the car counts and travelers like they were. Many drivers and crews know they aren't going to come in here and have a shot unless you have a big set of balls, and run on the ragged edge. I guess if you want to cater to a few drivers, then you prepare a speedway that only suits their driving style. I'm just about done. Everytime I go, I hope they have enough moisture in the track to keep the cushion a car width off the wall. Everytime I am very disappointed.

I will say the track surface for the feature was slightly better last night. My god even their track boy Cisney was crying the blues last night during his interview after the make up feature saying you can't pass Macri because the has the bigger set of you know what and that the Zemco car needs to go thru tech. LOL.

By next year Macri will be gone and your guy who ever that is might have a chance to win. I case you have not been paying attention Macri and Logan are known for running the wall, but as Lance said Sat. night Macri can run anywhere on the track when he needs to and that makes it hard to defend the lead against him. As far as undesrvingly, I am not sure where you are going with that.

I always thought any dirt between the inside rail and outside wall was considered part of the race track and legal to use to move forward as fast as possible to win the "race".
If one has the balls to race there maybe they get scared on the inside wall and feel the inside runners are cheating because they have the balls to run the inside. The arguement they use a different part of the track is silly.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Nope....you are wrong again! But what else is new

Na. Not the same. The other two seem brighter.
Lock them in the same room they'd eventually eat each other.

Question for a PA fan...
How did Port Royal get the name for their town since they are not near a sea port?
|
Port Royal used to be named Perrysville. The first fair was held in 1852. In 1953 weekly summer automobile racing began at the fairgrounds.
wikipedia.org
"At the time, the Port Royal post office was located in Saint Tammany town, just across the Tuscarora Creek. However, the Pennsylvania Railroad brought increased traffic through the area and prompted a move of the Port Royal post office into Perrysville in 1847. In 1874, the borough took on the name itself and Saint Tammany became known as Old Port."

That is correct. However, wikipedia would be one of the last places I would use as source.
Too many people can change it to say what they want it to say, and sometimes it isn't factual!
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

The problem is in turn 2 that the dirt doesnt meet the fence like every other track it actually goes up on the fence creating at least in my opinion an unfair advantage for a car the otherwise would be out to lunch. That is why it looks like the cars hit the fence but are able to keep going. It is true that it is fair game but it doesn't take a good handling car to run there. You dont see that advantage in turns 3 and 4 because you cant run actually up on the fence. You have to keep from hitting it. Balls to run the inside? That is a lame argument.

The Port Royal post office was in Old Port. In 1847 they moved it to Perrysville because of the canal and railroad. The name Perrysville was already in use so they changed the name to Port royal. It wasn't until 1874 though that the borough appropriated the name of Port Royal.

Thses facts came from the book "Perrysville to Port Royal 1812-2012 A 200 Year Journey".

You are the first person I've ever seen who would rather see a huggy-pole parade around the bottom or a slip and slide in the middle race.

I'm going to guess that your favorite driver doesn't run up by the wall, therefore those that do are getting some kind of unfair advantage?

I never said anyone cheated. The best car and driver should win, not the one with the biggest set. I don't like single file racing and I don't like watching cars run on the guide rail. It is supposed to be a guard rail like at every other track (not a guide rail like a train track). Take a walk up there and look at it when you get a chance and you will understand a lot more. I like multiple grooves, just not that one that has been created in the last 3 or 4 years. Port was never like that before and I have been going for 40 years.

The best car/driver did win both nights. All due respect to Lance and the 69 team, if you don't think the Macri 39 is not the best car/driver/team in Central PA, and absolutely one of the best in the country...c'mon. OK, just for stinks and giggles, take all those that ran the top away the Saturday and Sunday, who deserved to win then? Bet you won't say because then you'll have to reveal your bias.

To be fair, I didn't say that you did.
What you are saying, is that no one should be able to use that part of the track that you don't think they should. That's the part I, and apperently others find fault with.Every racer should be able to use whatever line he feels makes him go fastest. That's racing. Some people don't like sprinters to hug the bottom. Some people don't like sprinters to ride the rim. Most all sprint car fans like races that have passing and are exciting.
I'm probably off a bit, but I think it was Jack Hewitt that said racing the bottom was like having a day job.

You are right the car/driver who could run anywhere on the track won. That is what makes that team good is when he comes up on a car he will run where ever the other guy doesn't. The crew cheif deserves some credit for that. Lance said as much in his interveiw.
