The sprint car and midget racing community has lost one of its biggest supporters as we are sad to announce the passing of Larry Hillerud. Larry was a longtime competitor with the Badger Midget Auto Racing Association, followed by a successful stint in winged sprint cars. Once his driving days were complete, Larry began promoting sprint car races and in time formed SLS Promotions, which has promoted numerous World of Outlaws Sprint Car events over the years. Thank you Larry for all that you did for the sport.

Super sad news! Sharon - my deepest condolences! I dealt with Larry and Sharon as part of SLS for close to 20 years when buying WoO tix. I would organize events with coworkers and friends in Michigan - usually at Hartford or I-96. Some years I was ordering as many as 80+ tix, and they both were so super to work with! They even helped organize getting a driver to stop by our big tailgates to say hi and sign autographs - Craig Dollansky multiple times and Joey Saldana once. I always looked forward to seeing them both at the track and Larry always had time for a nice chat to get caught up each year even with all the hustling around he was doing to keep the show organized. We've not had the Outlaws in Michigan for the past several years so have had limited interactions with them, but I did buy a couple tix for the WoO show in Kansas City last fall from them so had a nice chat then. Larry was such a positive ambassador for racing and the World of Outlaws....definitely a guy that did much more than he ever got credit for. It's guys like him that have kept sprint car racing going strong over the years...will be missed greatly. Regards, Phil Ham

Larry will be missed. One hell of a racer in his day and just a great person in general. Talked with him a couple of times last year about racing and different sponsor opportunities out there. Larry and his wife Sharon were always working together. He would be working on the track and she'd be taking care of tickets, both online and at the track. My deapest condolences to Sharon.
Can still remember him in the early eighties pulling into Avilla In. for a SOD show with his suburban and open trailer.

Our deepest condolences to Sharon and Family.
Raced IRA 410 sprints with Larry, super nice guy, smart, he was always super-fast on the 1/2 mile like Marshfield, WI. I was struggling to get hook up at Monster Hall, Larry gave a tip and then I was flying. I learned so many things from watching Larry. He will truly be missed.
