The large tracks like Bristol usually dont produce much passing and as proven last night the dash pretty much determined.Good for Logan and also Kraig.. The All stars also was a front row winner. As much as I like Sammy blocking when you are a backmarker isnt good for racing.Hunter also needed a win for their program.

I thought the sprint heats and LM feature were pretty good. Certainly better than anything last year. But the sprint feature was a snoozer.

I was going to make a separate post about this but I'll just add to the thought here
Bristol on dirt is cool and all. And it maybe works for NASCAR and the late models, late model feature last night with Larson roaring back was great, but WoO sprints need to pass
Like the other already said, too smooth, too fast, thus too difficult to pass. Not a good venue to show new fans what great racing the series is capable of displaying

Gimmick racing...for the sprints. Cool for awhile, after that boring.

Anyone catch the interview with one of the late model drivers? I think it was Ryan Gustin? He said "I hate this, we're going too fast and the racing sucks". Nothing like a little bit of honesty.
The first sprint heat was bad. The other two were OK. Feature wasn't good. Think I'll be watching Knoxville tonight...

Shortage of cars. When you stick a mechanic in a back up car and they run 1 lap and pull in is not good. I think about 5 cars were just start and park. Bristol was not a good show for sprint cars. Larson made the stock car race great. Bristol had alot of competition with sprint car races at other tracks. Maybe Bristol needs to pay tow money to non WOO teams who actually want to race, not start and park. I sure do not know the answer but when you pay $25,000 to win you should get cars.

I believe NASCAR said the dirt was coming back for one more year after this but I predict that will be the end of it.

I had thought that a $20,000 prize for 1st would be better with an extra $500 each for the last 10 teams. Might get more to try if more money for trying.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Gimme a rutted 3/8m with a bit of a cushion on a humid night. I do NOT like pavement racing, its boring and it gets good drivers hurt.

Did not watch the broadcast, but did watch the YouTube review. It looked way too fast and the passes looked very calculated. I would imagine for this race that the WOO asked some teams to do a start and park just to get 24 entries. With all of the eye balls on this race, it would look really bad it they did not have a full field.
My concern for this race is that with the speeds and banking that any type of wreck in the turns will be brutal. The car will have all kind of energy from the speeds and then tumbiling down the banking on the turns will only make it worse. I remember seeing a replay of a FWD car wreck there last month and it's crash was scary and it was probably going half as fast as the sprints.

I figured that was the case--------I believed you. I just thought it was ironic that after the comment, they put on a very good show.

Good for Spencer but front row winner. The late model feature on Saturday was the best part of broadcast thanks to Kyle Larson. Now back to some racy tracks where dash draw doesnt determine winner.Hard to tell but lot of empty seats.Pay for View has changed racing especially if the weather can be a factor. Knoxville looked slim too but those places hold so many hard to tell

I'm assuming Bristol attendance was very slim this year. Knoxville is VERY deceiving from the camera angles, but I would agree, it looked very slim as well. I think the biggest factor is weather right now as I hate to even walk outside right now! However, you are correct that the influence of Pay Per View has forever changed the landscape as many are not going to take those long trecks with questionable weather.

You have to wonder how many drivers were in conservative mode. Just cruise around and save equipment and move on to the next race.

The nostalgia of Bristol has warn off. Time to end it before someone gets hurt. They have been super lucky the last two years with no incidents. Consider it a success and move on. I was there the first year they did it and saw one of the Chesson brothers wad a car up. Teams had to spend more than the top prize money putting cars together that we're safe. It's a no win situation for everyone.

But some loved it (not racing fans) because it was a hammer down freight train with the cars pushed to the edge and most importantly the track was not a slip and slide "asphalt" track and that's most important (to some). Heck of a drag racing event.
Sarcasm - don't shoot me.

Nobody ever said that was racing. The only race at Bristol the whole weekend was the Friday late model feature. All others were not any fun to watch. Kind of like an asphalt dirt track......just saying!
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!
