I was reading about the Busch Light Clash being moved to the Los Angeles Coloseum. It looks like they will have a narrow, tight, 1/4 mile asphalt track. A news blub I watched talked about how hard it would be for NASCAR drivers to adapt to something like that....well, most NASCAR drivers perhaps.

I wonder why they can't cover the track with dirt afterward and have a Chili Bowl type race the following weekend.

I don't see this race as anything more than an oppertunity to draw new fans from the LA area to showcase NASCAR'S cars and stars.  Attendance at California Speedway has never been great and as a result of the pandemic will sure be questionable.  I think it's great marketing strategy.

What? You're going to forego watching some over-hyped drama queens play roller derby in look-a-like bumper cars? Imagine what the lap times will be like. Smile

Yeah, and the OP said something about Larson being "scheduled" to win.   I would be Larson is "scheduled" to get wrecked...

dirt would pobably  be a disaster.  It would be a dust bowl.  Cost of laying dirt down then get rid of it after race.  Every seat would have to be cleaned of dirt and dust.  In California everything cost about double to do.

Isn't that what they do at the Chili Bowl venue?

I don't think dirt would be a problem they ran motocross races in that venue for many years. the track even ran up and down the seating rows. They should bring back the motorcycle track and let the nascar stars race on that, with smaller cars of course.

Obviously you have forgotten or were never informed... MOST of the top NASCAR drivers began their careers on small tracks.  Many of the tracks were the same size as the track they are going to use for the CLASH.

I think I probably fall into the never informed category because I haven't followed NASCAR in about 40 years. Re-read my first post and you'll see that I was poking fun at some news coverage that was saying the NASCAR drivers would have trouble adjusting to that track. Those folks are uniformed. Smile

spain't?

The tie-in is that some cat named Kyle Larson will be in the race. He's run a few sprint car races in the near past.

It's the off-season. What news do you have that we should be discussing instead?

Indeed. Imagine the discussion here should he win this race over whoever is this year's NASCAR bad man.
